The more I look at Caruso's numbers the more I realize that they actually do a precise job of mirroring what Derrick White brings to the Celtics.
Caruso: 6'5 186lbs, 8.0 3PA Per 100 Poss at 41.5%, 2.6% Steal, 3.5% Block, 63.3 TS%, .575 3Par (attempt rate), .227 FTr
White: 6'4 190lbs, 9.8 3PA Per 100 Poss at 41.2%, 1.6% Steal, 3.2% Block, 62.9 TS%, .565 3Par (attempt rate), .245 FTr
Caruso rebounds slightly better, White passes slightly better. Both can defend up and down the lineup. Caruso is a +++ athlete for his size and locked up for an extra season.
We might be better off going all in on defensively versatile players that can shoot and are elite athletes and the Bulls have two names that fit the bill. Both Alex Caruso and Patrick Williams are low maintenance cogs that can be integrated into our core and raise our defensive resilience and give us legit options to toss on Brown, Lillard, Holiday (Caruso) and Tatum, Giannis, Horford (Williams).
Feels unrealistic though sadly, we don't have the tradable assets to make a splash as it currently stands. And who's out there anyways? Siakam is off the table. Markkanen is off the table. The Clippers wings are running it back. We have five tradeable firsts come summer, is our guy 5'11 Donovan Mitchell? Would be disheartening to see Morey decide to go into yet another playoffs with more insignificant George Hill / Dewayne Dedmon esque tinkering around the margins.
