This is what it boils down to. Bruce is a solid player but he's not what the team needs. Everything he does, Josh Hart does*

I've been sold on the angle that we already have a Josh Hart.

That said, I LOVE Brown openly campaigning to come here. Not for the player as much as it shows we're a destination again. Players want to come here. A few short years of success and everyone forgot about Dolan and the Two Decades of Misery.

Yeah that's a good sign that guys are openly talking about the Knicks as a destination. Bruce is a straight shooter and already has his money, so that was a great endorsement from an absolute pro. But yeah, he's not a good fit for what the team needs right now.

He's not the only guy who would be down to hoop with Brunson. Mark my words.

Making that statement after Bruce Brown grovels to be extradited from the Canadian wastelands is equivalent to claiming you're the # 1 Playboy of the Western World because you just got busy with a lot lizard

It’s almost like this man doesn’t have 2 COYs for making teams better than the sum of their parts. And like the most glaring example wasn’t with this team.

He gets credit for building a culture I give him that. Also gets guys to play hard. But to act like the man doesn’t have glaring weaknesses such as below is just riding the high. Which is fine but “if” it comes back to bite us I don’t want to see people complaining. There’s a reason he went around the league meeting new coaches trying to get new philosophies etc and had to come out and say he’s evolved to get another job.

-Meh rotations and refuses to use the guys on his roster in regular season. Rather overplay top guys.

-Meh offense, relys on iso players to create rather than have an offense in place. “Drive and kick” and let the game tell you what to do is not an offense.

-Without Mitch he crumbled defensively and for some reason still doubles scrub of the night players and leave guys open for 3. It got so bad many here complained about it ALOT. Gave up 130 ppg in December.

I like the team I just see some things that can harm us when we trying to advance in playoffs.

If a recent poll of NBA players conducted by The Athletic is any indication, hardwood outsiders don't want to be a part of it in New York, New York if Tom Thibodeau was around.

The New York Knicks' head coach topped a survey of 55 players when polled on the question of "Which current coach, aside from your own, would you least want to play for?." Thibodeau topped the list at over 43 percent, more than doubling the output toward Stephen Silas, the since-fired head coach of the Houston Rockets. Responses of "other" comes in third while Philadelphia's Doc Rivers rounds out the top four.

I’m a big Thibs hater but I bring the evidence. Can’t do anything if the player don’t match his “philosophy” aka Fournier / Kemba / Cam

That whole 43% don’t want to play for him is so meaningless to me even if true. Ok so you got 43% who want to coast through life without working hard and you have the other 57% to sort through. But we don’t even need 57%. There are 450 guys on active rosters at all times and we need like 8 of those guys to buy in to the way we do things here. We need the 1%. The top 1% that wants to play hard and wants to put in work to win. And you know what, if Brunson wanted Thibs gone he’d be gone at any time but doesn’t want a vacation he wants to win. Thibs hired Brunson’s dad to work for the Bulls in 2010. It’s a big happy family. And it’s the best Knicks basketball I’ve watched in my adult life. Thibs forever

Once a Knick ALWAYS A KNICK! Love you RJ keep Shining Young King!

They can say whatever they want, but RJ and IQ miss it here.

They both tried ignoring the video tribute last night to avoid getting emotional. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed, but at one point IQ sat on his bench with his eyes closed during the tribute. Their faces said volumes.

Still, wishing them both well. Once a KNICK, always a KNICK!

It has to be harder on IQ I think. While he wants the bag and a bigger role, I think he genuinely loved NYC in a way that cannot be replaced

RJ got to go home so while it may be bittersweet for him, the outcome was a best case scenario for him

I think IQ would try to leave the raptors if they couldn’t match any offer he takes. I bet he will sign an offer sheet with some other team and hope to the heavens they don’t match it

That could matter a great deal when it comes to landing another big fish, but that hypothetically leaves 57% of the NBA that doesn't care if Thibs is here. Anyone who wants to be in NYC wants what the city brings and the glory they could achieve. I doubt the coach will impede that decision.

This FO is fully Thibs-centric, I don't hang on to any hope he will be replaced anytime soon. I expect him to go out feet first actually, a corpulent and decaying Orc version of Pops.

I hope he has a monster postseason so he can finally start getting some respect. Cause people really obsess about his shortcomings in a way that they just don't for other players who are around his level.

I get that he's not always the most aesthetically pleasing watch, he's not the kind of super high IQ player that people love, and some of his spots aren't "good shots"...there's a reason I was a hater at first too lol...but he's still a really good player who makes a huge impact for this team.

We're lucky to have two All-NBA caliber players...plus an All-defensive team guy...all in their primes.

I don’t totally disagree but also it’s not like these errors are aesthetic. Cmon. These errors don’t seem like a big deal in a win but they’re gonna cost you games.

Now, I will concede that he probably can only play this way. Like all of life you take the good with the bad.

If, by some miracle, Randle not only excels in the playoffs, but also plays smart and relatively error-free ball, I will sing his praises to the Hoops Gods.

Probability though is he will have multiple meltdowns under pressure. He always does so I expect more of the same, not unlikely miracles.

And Randle's tendency to melt down under pressure is one of the two primary caps on this current roster's ceiling along with Thibs getting outcoached in the playoffs.

Both will happen the deeper you go into the playoffs.

But I like this for us — players are seeing what's going on in NY and want to become a part of the Knicks as the team approaches a level of being contenders for a while. There's also a lot of team chemistry, so it's a great place for our players to be (except for the lamentable 4nier).
Small city? Toronto is 4th or 5th largest city in North America.

Roughly a third of the density of NYC, 35% of the population of NYC (but NYC has a huge metro area), and is the the 65th largest city in the world.

Spoiler:
Toronto's Dick shrinks in the cold weather.
So by your standards they left a small city for a smaller city. Gotcha.

Yup. He's a big draw.

FO made a great call on him. I'll say something a little spicy here but it doesn't happen without Phil ducking the typical Knick way of splurging assets for second rate players and allowing our own pick pool to reset, then Pills resetting the books, acquiring additional assets, and getting a decent player here in Randle. Those regimes left a lot to be desired in terms of execution but we've seen a slow, methodical transition back towards being a stable franchise that can operate from strength instead of desperation. Now we have a good FO with better execution and they broke the Charlie Ward Curse. Brunson and OG were two high level moves.

Hartenstein was another where they identified a player that could expand their game in an expanded role. I still have some hope for Precious.
