But I wholeheartedly feel they are worse this season. Even watching the Memphis game last night Herro and Rozier were getting annihilated by Scottie Pippen Jr. Those are 2 high usage players that are traffic cones on defense.

Last year Miami had the 3rd best net rating in the playoffs and the #1 3PT shooting percentage. So much of their ball movement, floor spacing and general unselfishness was due to guys like Vincent and Strus who are no longer on the team. Caleb Martin had a much bigger role for them and was legitimately an X factor. Lowry is cooked now but he provided defense and timely shooting for them especially in the 2nd round. This Miami team right now is averaging 95 PPG over their last 7. They are 20th in 3s attempted as well as assists. Dead last in blocks and 27th in rebounding.

Not trying to poke the bear but I’m not sure they are invincible moving forward.

Before the Rozier trade they definitely had a lack of offense. Once he settles in that is a potential big get for them. He is exactly what they needed in theory.

If you had asked me two weeks ago I would've said f*** no. They were neck and neck with us despite Jimmy barely playing. Jaquez is the best sub-7ft rookie in the NBA this season, Herro is having his best season yet on both ends of the court, Duncan Robinson has turned into someone who can create offense and almost even hold his own defensively, Bam was playing as well as ever, and they were poised to upgrade on Lowry.

Then Jimmy came back, they traded for Rozier, lost 4 straight, and I get where you're coming from...but they're still the heat, and in the playoffs they'll still have the best coach in any series + a star who can go toe to toe with in anybody for 7 games + enough shooters that one of Rozier / Herro / Robinson / Jaquez should be hot on any given night once they all gel.

So I see the vulnerabilities, especially if they don't click before the playoffs...but they're still the heat. I'll believe they're dead when they're actually eliminated

Lol well team is better set up now. Much better set up. He gonna be like dude I wanna play with Brunson and the Nova crew man. That OG and Mitchell Robinson is gonna take a lot of pressure off me defensively

If it wasn't for the Giannis injury and Butler playing the games of his lifetime it would have been a first round exit for Miami anyways. And then Tatum got injured in game 7 as well. Miami played very good and they stepped up across the board but they had insane luck as well. Could have easily been a first round exit. Only against us they were really the better team and won deservedly (unfortunately).

Umm...you forget the injured players we had? Grimes/IQ/JR/Mitch were all hurt during the playoffs. Bam was out there trying to ruin careers with those illegal screens/picks he was setting.

Let me be clear I like Rozier and he provides something Miami desperately needs but he’s been averaging 18.3 FGA the last 2 seasons.

He’s going to have to learn how to be effective in a somewhat smaller role. Not saying he won’t go full on Rozier flamethrower at times but he ain’t in Charlotte anymore. Melo made a good point that he hasn’t seen him play well next to other high usage stars IE: Brown & Tatum. Between Jimmy, Bam, Herro and Jaquez plenty of guys need their diet of shots. Is Rozier guaranteed to be such a seamless fit with the ability to know when he has to score and when he has to play make for others? We shall see over these next 38 games.

That's true of course. However I do think that if it wasn't for the Giannis and Tatum injury the Heat would have lost those series 100%. With us it is different. I'm not confident we would have definitely won...keep in mind the Heat were missing Herro too.

The Heat didn't have Herro for any of those series wins, or Jaquez. Who have both been fantastic for them this season...while Duncan Robinson has only built on the evolution he started to flash last season.

I'm obviously hoping that Terry ruins the vibes and the Heat crater, but if they gel before the playoffs they look like they should be scarier than they were last season.

Luckily, so do we 8-)

HALF our rotation was injured or out completely. We still went to 6 games. Makes no sense to overlook he Knicks series as an injury reason when we had half the team playing healthy in it. They weren't that much better than us on any level. You clearly just dismissed the Knicks because forgot we had far more injuries than either of those teams.

Maybe you are right...I feel like with the Randle injury we had little chance to win so maybe I am actually disregarding our chances. Could be.

I do however like our chances this time around. I actually think if Mitch comes back we SHOULD beat them. Imagine for Butler and Adebayo going from RJ and Randle guarding them to OG guarding them.

Isaiah has grown bigtime defensively this year. You add Robinson to that and then OG and this team is a beast defensively. We just need one more fairly decent scoring combo guard to really solidify this team.

Get that decent scoring combo guard who can share minutes with DDV at the 2 and then run the 2nd squad when Brunson sits , this team will be a tough out for anyone. Not saying we will win it all but if we actually get this version of Randle in the playoffs .....man this will be a good team

I am more concerned today than I was a week ago. Waiting anxiously to find out the severity of the iHart injury and, to see what we do to solidify the depth/bench issues.

It just seemed odd that those teams lost one player...and one only for a game...and we had half our rotation either playing hurt or not playing. That's why I threw us into the incredibly lucky run they had last year.

Anyways, we can't combine TPEs or Flynn/Achiuwa, to afford a second MLE-ranged addition without using Fournier.

But what we can do is use Flynn or Achiuwa to match for some player A who makes up to 200% + 250K of what Flynn or Achiuwa make, and then flip that player A for someone player B who made up to 7.5M more than player A*...as long as we stay clear of the hardcap.

So in theory, we could use the Fournier deal to make one addition, and make another deal for someone who earned up to ~15.5M using Flynn...7.5M + (2 x 3.87M + .25M)...or ~16.5M using precious...7.5M + (2 x 4.38M + .25M)

*if player A makes more than 7.5M, if he makes less than 7.5M then the same 200% + 250K rules would apply, but since the max Flynn could match for is around 8M and the max Precious could match of is around 9M, play A could make more than 7.5M

I'm not going to fall into the trap of doubting the Heat even a little, they are the current East champs and are improved in many ways from last season so they are at the top of the east with the Celtics and Bucks who have been to the finals, too.

The Sixers are in the second tier since they need to have a sustained playoff run to prove their top tier status. The Knicks and Cavs could be considered in the second tier but I'd put them below the Sixers since they don't have an MVP winner on their roster.

The Knicks need to make a move to bolster their bench with another shot creator or it will show up as a weakness in the playoffs but the Heat get my full respect as a team, I'd rather the Knicks not see them at all in the playoffs, Butler is in Randle's head.

We want another scorer for that reason. Get the decent combo guard by the TDL!!! (Hoping its Murray)

He has playing with a sore Achilles since last season apparently so I don't think it is severe---it is not strained or anythin but you would still want to be super cautious. If you played it wrong it could end in a more serious injury (Achilles tear etc.). We need to be on the safe side here.

Actually not sure about the Sixers. They are 27-6 with Embiid in the line-up. They actually have a better % than Boston. I don't know if Embiid can play at this level in the playoffs....but he is averaging like 37 points or so.....

Yup… Boston, Philly, Miami, and Bucks tier 1 in the East in that order imo.

NYK and CLE in the next tier. If NY gets Brogdon or someone like that then they move up and knock on that tier 1 door. If we get Mikal then we kick the door open and have a real seat at that table.
