Agreed hard to believe that's what he thinks. A lot more likely that he is waiting until to the deadline to not overpay (which literally is something he said recently) and/ or he doesn't want to blow assets/cap space on the wrong player.brannigan73 wrote:76ciology wrote:My guess is that Daryl Morey sees no significant difference among these $20 million players, whether it's from Dejounte Murray to Tyus Jones, Siakam to Bogdanovic, or OG Anunoby to Dorian Finney Smith. He's likely waiting it out and plans to take advantage of whatever is left over, ensuring we have plenty to work with in the upcoming offseason.
I honestly hope Daryl Morey doesnt think Dorian Finney Smith is a comparable player to OG because that would mean he is an imbecile. OG is a way better player. I wouldnt give up more then a heavily protected first for Finney Smith that would likely convert to 2 seconds. And Tyus Jones might be fairly comparable to Dejaunte Murray in overall impact although I personally think in a vacuum Murray is a better player but they are very different at how they get there. Murray is taller, longer, and more athletic. Jones is the better shooter 3pt shooter and floor general. Murray could guard Jrue Holiday, Jaylen Brown, and for small stretches possibly Jason Tatum. With Tyus Jones you have a tiny back court with him and Maxey. Murray can also create his own offense much easier. For the Sixers at least I dont see the argument for Tyus Jones over Murray if the cost is relatively close given the Sixers needs and current roster. Yes lets add another tiny guard to go with Maxey, Melton, and Pat Bev!
I imagine that he didn't think Siakim, OG, or Scary Terry were worth paying for, but will make a play at whoever the best players left are (Murray?). Then try to improve again if a higher tier player comes on the market. Can trade Murray or whoever if needed then.
