We did.

OG and Precious have given us that depth.

Precious is a great pick-up. He's showing signs that he can more than a junkyard dog. Very pleased with his game tonight.

Also, Sims played well too. He was bodying the Jazz and even showed a few moves of his own. He was always a project player and now he is stepping up.

Knicks appear to be developing players and putting guys in appropriate roles. This and the scouting has to be the story of this front office. I’m thoroughly impressed.
I really see no reason for them to make a big move here. Fournier and a pick for an excellent bench piece. I wouldn’t **** with this team’s chemistry now.

The question is who does the player we acquire replace in the rotation? The way Deuce is playing you can’t bench him. Grimes is the most likely candidate and if that’s the case then include him in the trade and make sure the player we are getting back is a no doubt about it improvement.

I agree. Jerry West's prediction of him being better than Barrett is starting to show.

I like when he attacks the rim. And when his 3 is going, we look unbeatable.

I think Grimes is a keeper. It may be better to see if he develops more before trading him. That way if he does develop, we can probably use him to grab a star.

During his offensive struggles he has always been an important defender for us. He remains a top defender and his assignments often struggle to score against him which adds to his net value on the floor. With an uptick in scoring again, he becomes a major plus.

I see no reason to trade him since he can function with any unit. If that only results in him being a tradeable asset, then so be it, but I think he can be a key piece for us long-term.

This continued high level play with Randle and OG off the floor should open everyone's eyes to the value of depth. Some rash folks have consistently stated we have little talent on the bench. They're just flat out wrong.

This is why a long-term vision and player development results in championship rosters. You need to have guys who all buy in and stay ready for when their number is called. Our culture is winning and for that I give Thibs the props.

So all the cats in here who spew crappy hot takes every time Grimes clanks a jumper can call him trash until he proves them wrong. Talent evaluation is for level headed people who can see past the struggles. Grimes is a two-way talent and with some patience he will reward the team for sticking by him.

I'm still on team-Grime, but the way Ragu is playing, I can't imagine seeing him starting ever again. I am looking forward to a defensive lineup of Mitchell, OG, Josh, and Grimes. I feel like that's going to be a hard lineup to score on.

Brown and he cuts into both Grimes and Deuce's minutes, with Thibs giving one of them the nod based on shooting

And this my friend is what modern gangsta rap evolved from.

This Knick squad is firing on all cylinders though.

When McBride, Grimes, Hart, Achiua, and Sims come in making shots we look dominant and unbeatable.

Burks contract just doesn't fit.

You either have to make a bigger trade with Fournier in it. Or a smaller trade with Precious on it.

Knicks are not trading Fournier for an expiring they have operated that they want to trade for a star and they NEED that Fournier contract or whoever they trade him for to be added salary in the next trade.

And they be stupid to trade precious for Burks.

The Burks contract just doesn't make sense because we can't fit it in to our plans.

Y’all ready to believe in Donte yet? There was never any reason for him to only play 25 minutes per game. Stagger him and Brunson, and that gives you your extra play maker? Picks for Jordan Clarkson?

i know but there's multiple reports they're interested in him. it might be that randle is gonna have to be the contract going out instead.

are the knicks gonna have 4 near max contracts on their books anyway ? if the new star is on a max. and og is on a near max. and brunson a year from now is on a max. can they afford to keep julius on a new deal at something that approaches a max a year from now ? don't seem likely.

Knicks closed the 2nd quarter with:

McBride
Donte
Grimes
Hart
Sims

That's 4 guards and a PF/C type.

Dinosaur Thibs plays a lot of 3 and 4 guard lineups.

I mean, it helps that the FO hasn't supplied nearly any backup wings with size but still

If we are to make a trade for a secondary playmaker, I would prefer that bigger 6'5 or taller player that allows McBride to stay in the rotation. If we get a Tyus Jones for example, you can kiss any McBride playing time good bye and I feel like he has truly earned his chance. I mean he has always been a strong defender but now he is knocking down 3s with ease as well. I think he could easily end up a player getting you 10/3/3 in limited minutes (18 or so) where he brings a lot of shot making, defense and keeps TO low.

But keep in mind that despite trading RJ and IQ away we still have a lot of depth at guard. Despite the trade and all the injuries, McBride, Grimes, DD still average less minutes than a year ago. DD despite playing great has been getting less PT than in Mil, Sac and GS.....even in january he has barely reached those 27minutes he used to play on his previous teams. Grimes is way below last year in PT and McBride has also only been getting like 12is minutes.

BTW I would definitely want to keep playing Precious a lot of minutes. He can play both the 4/5 and he is a good defender, solid finisher. He is very solid the way he is....if he manages to knock down some thress he will actually be pretty good as a sub.

What about TJ McConnell + Isaiah Jackson and our most liked filler Obi Toppin for Evan + Grimes + Dallas pick.

It's not the soundest trade for a continuous soup strategy but gives us a lot of depth.

The biggest problem was that we had 3 weak defenders in the line-up and you really can't make up for that. Right now we have a rotation of like 1 weak defender and 7-8 good defenders. With Randle we have two weak defenders and like 6-7 good defenders. It makes a huge difference. Brunson has elite offensive ability so all his deficiencies on defense are not that significant. And Randle, if you discount his first 6 games where he was recovering from the ankle surgery, shot like 51% over the following 30+ games along with 80% from FT while getting to the line a lot.....so he has been very efficient as well. So two very efficient offensive players, with a bunch of energetic defenders along with very good 3 point shooting and yes....this team will be hard to beat.

I actually feel like if we can get Mitch and Randle back healthy we can beat anybody in the league. Sure, a couple teams will still be favored to beat us, but the margin will be so narrow that a close game here and there, one of their star players not being on top of their game or plain injuries, could easily swing the balance in our favor. We just need to get everybody healthy.
