Off the way that he is playing, you have every reason to accept him as being legit. I was a skeptic of the signing but you can't argue with results (unless one is a complete idiot).

He's playing like a third star. He's playing as well as any of the suspects we're supposed to attempt to trade for.

The big thing with him is he is still effective even when he isn't making 9 3's. He's always a threat so he stretches the floor. He plays defense. He playmakes. Gets assists, steals and rebounds... and, he's low maintenance. He's not a zero if his shot isnt falling or a turnover machine. I'm all in on him, and I did not forsee that.

That's 4 guards and a PF/C type.

Dinosaur Thibs plays a lot of 3 and 4 guard lineups.

I mean, it helps that the FO hasn't supplied nearly any backup wings with size but still

Ball movement overcomes size, i.e. Speed Kills

Plus, our smaller guys have physically imposed their will on bigger teams. That a mindset

It also helps that there's few low post PF's left in this league... Lauri and Collins did nothing against smaller guys.

Hart allows this to be possible. He is so physical and such a good rebounder. This lineup can get the defensive rebound and then pushes like mad men. Once Mitch is back, if you put iHart in this lineup and it's extremely dangerous. Lots of fast break points and ball movement. That's the type of lineup to give a knockout punch in the 2Q.

I've always liked the IHart/Mitch rotation. Probably the best (or 2nd best) center rotation in the league. Hartenstein isn't the most durable and the same for Mitch so they can each play about 24 minutes per game and we're set at center, more or less depending on the team and which player is more effective.

Wonder if they can work out a one year deal to get bird rights and then a big extension after? Or something like that...

correct. max starting salary we can offer him with early bird rights is a shade over $16m. he would need to be cool with the max 1+1 for full bird rights the following offseason if he wants to stay. a smart team should make him an offer he can't refuse this offseason.

thanks for everything, thibs.

that's not allowed. he'd have to wait until the following offseason for the extension.

funny thing is, Hartenstein likes it too. and speaks publicly to that point. recently.

like... the timeshare with mitch is ideal for everyone involved.

Just thinking it through, I can't think of another team that will have 18M+ in cap, wants to spend it on a C, and is a more attractive situation than the Knicks right now.

All the incentives are here for both sides to work out a long term agreement and we have the CBA experts to figure out.

What you said about the 1+1 deal with a handshake for an extension the next summer could make the most sense unless there's a loophole.

Or maybe iHart is ok with whatever is the max we can offer

He seems pretty happy here at least.

Between Precious, iHart, and OG it could be an expensive summer. I, for one, fully support spending Dolan's money on all of them.

We don't need to extend him though. What we do is give him a full max with a year one opt out. Then he's a Bird player and we can go over the cap to retain.

I was saying FOR MONTHS we needed to give Donte the keys. When Grimes was struggling, I wanted Thibs to give DiVo a shot as the starting 2. I'm glad he did and fans finally see what we already had sitting on the bench.

Reframe: The BBGods are developing our bench in Jan/Feb so everyone is healthy and locked in for the playoff run
