that's more than fair assessment. Moody is certainly comparable or maybe even better than Harris today, but not by much. ORL makes the deal based on Moody becoming better in next few years (also up for extension-whereas Harris likely re-signs for less). GSW accepts a small drop-off in upside to get better overall. WCJ improves the team significantly and Harris fills the hole created by the deal.
I'd much rather ask for Podz, but I assume that's not on the table. What if we included Cole Anthony to provide proven scoring off the bench and fearlessness in big game situations? Cole's not the most efficient player or defender, but he would contribute immediately to GSW's bench scoring. He's a microwave scorer that can win some games when he's hot. Tell me this doesn't make both teams better next day...
ORL sends: Fultz, Wendell Carter, Cole Anthony (all young vets, on great or expiring (Fultz) deals, ready to contribute in some form)
GSW sends: Podzmieski, CP3, Trayce Jackson-Davis
Curry/Fultz/GPII....Fultz could definitely play next to Curry, Klay, Wiggins, Draymond or WCJ...if they go small and fast
Klay/Cole/Moody
Kuminga/Wiggins
Draymond/Saric
WCJ/Looney...WCJ, Draymond, Looney provides lots of combos depending on matchups.
Nah. Podz is much more of a fit on both sides of the court than Cole would be.
I wonder if there’s a 3-way with Atlanta that’s possible. Dubs could use WCJ, Moody is the kind of role guy fit you need alongside Trae in the backcourt in Atlanta and Murray seems the big PG that fits with Orlando’s big lineup. Seems picks, cap relief and talent mixed in to even it out could work.
Murray is my favorite among the "available" for ORL. The only guy out there that could IMPROVE ORL's fearsome backcourt defense while still scoring 20ppg. I don't care if he's a bit of a hard case. ORL might need some more of that. Matt Barnes with much greater skill...in that 3-way, ATL gets CP3 (non-guaranteed) and picks?
ATL sends: Dejounte Murray, AJ Griffin, Patty Mills
ATL gets: CP3(non-guaranteed), ORL 24 frp (top 5), DEN 25 frp, 2 srps
GSW sends: CP3, Trayce Jackson-Davis
GSW gets: WCJ, Patty Mills, Gary Harris
ORL sends: WCJ, Harris, ORL 24 frp (top 5), DEN 25 frp, 2 srps
ORL gets: Dejounte, Griffin, TJD
*maybe even some variation if ATL wanted to take a crack at a Wiggins revival for Deandre Hunter (GSW sacrifices upside for some certainty).
I think Atlanta would want more value back if they're also giving up Griffin, I know he's not in the rotation for them at the moment, but he showed enough last year to still have some value on a rookie contract. I like the construction though and think the value is fair on the ORL and GSW sides.
