Sexton makes 10 mill less a year than Herro and is having a very good season. Herro and his value are not good, now imagine how much worse that value will become if we move him to the bench. Always think big picture.
It is comical that we tried to use Herro as bait to get a whale, Mitchel, KD and now his value is so low he cant even get Sexton in return unless we pony up multiple first round draft picks to good old Danny. Our front office needs a reality check and we need to demand accountability from everyone in the organization, from top to bottom.
You just showed that Herro is losing value as a starter. If he flourishes as a 6th man do you not think his value will increase?
Put a player in position they can flourish and mostly impact the team as a whole. Jazz put Sexton at shooting guard and a big defensive point next to him and the team as a whole took off. They didn't just stick another scorer next to him. Right role and right glue guy

Well like you said the Jazz put Sexton at SG and a big defensive player next to him. Herro has played with the corps of Lowry and now knowing Herro is not mister defense we are pairing him up with Terry no defense in the backcourt. Im not a fan of Herro, just pointing out how stupid it is to put Terry and Herro together in the back court.
As for Herro gaining value as a 6th man, 6th men are not paid starter salary, not near 30 mil with this CBA, not with the tax penalties. So it would be a one step forward two steps back situation. Ideally he gets traded but his value is already low, it will only drop more when we cant say he's a starter on a winning team. We might have to live with Herro remaining here for a large part of his contract before he becomes an expiring and then gets some positive value. This is all assuming Herro stays in line and doesn't cause issues, because that can easily happen here. No easy answers here but again our front office put us in this mess.
Well they stuck Lowry next to Jimmy, Duncan and Tucker while Vincent, Dipo and Herro came off the bench. Lowry was here to relieve Butler from running point guard and focus more as a scorer. The goal was to have a defensive point gaurd paired with Herro. Lowry wasnt suppose to be a long term solution, Dipo was suppose to inherit that starting role. It end up being a failed gamble.
After that first Lowry season failed in the conference finals, the Heat had Herro on the trade market again. After that Herro was told to prove he is a starter. Dipo was working hard and showing in camp he was ready to start as well until his knee started to swell up. And then eventually gave out before the season ended. Ideally this team was suppose to be Dipo and Herro backcourt.
A lot of things didnt go as plan. Riley made Herro a promise to prove he was a starter, and followed thru with it. Even thou Dipo knee wouldnt hold up, the Heat stuck with the plan to faze Lowry out and he didnt really handle it well.
But how long do you Riley has to keep his promise to Herro? Rozier is here now, if it continues to trend this way, good chance we will see the Spo famous change lineup move before the playoffs.
