Hell, just look at Phoenix as a perfect example. They looked like a play-in team for nearly 2-months just because Beal was out and they had to play certified scrubs like Josh Okogie and Jordan Goodwin (two guys this board would probably love for whatever reason). Things really aren't that dire. Any one of Royce O'Neal, DFS, Grant Williams, Thybulle, Caruso, Grimes, etc. will do. Just please no Wiggins or Miles Bridges.

Man must have been on an ECSF revenge mission. I missed this but saw him go hard at Giannis' abdomen.

He had been doing great this year until a freak injury because of Durant's garbage closeout. Using that as a knock against him is wild when any player would've been injured after that. Find me a guy ready to come to MKE for $13m/year that can put up 15ppg.

Gery Woelfel posts from 2015

I don't get this post. 2013-14 in Giannis's rookie year was fully under drew and played a ton/showed flashes. His only DNPs were early in the year, which is understandable based on Giannis's ability at the time just coming into the NBA. Giannis was a 71 game starter in 2015. Giannis was an extremely raw 19 year old we spent a first round pick based on potential alone. He needed to put on weight and get some coaching. AJJ is a 20 year old who is probably close to fully developed physically and had 3 years of high-end college coaching.

In 2015, we were the second worse team and couldn't waste promising assets to win-now. Now we have to do whatever it takes to win a championship.

So like this doesn't hold water in reality nor in context of who the players were and were we are as a team.

ETA: This is probably closer to our current situation:
Marjon is bad. I get he’s the young new toy, but he was playing terrible. Bud immediately benched him and AG/Doc has followed suit.

Would I keep him as an end of the bench guy? Sure. Would I care if he’s dealt? Nope.

The point is young guys get better with playing time. The counter argument would be “well we’re trying to win a title.” While that may be true, when those developmental minutes would be at the expense of Pat Connaughton that point is moot. Not to mention we’ve seen countless times when Andre gets playing time the team seems to respond with energy.

One problem is I doubt how much Doc has actually watched the Bucks despite his “advisory” role. Some guys (skiles, bud etc) are just completely averse to giving young guys steady roles even if it’s to their detriment.

And anytime you can dunk on woelfel it’s fun. He wanted the Bucks to trade Giannis first because he thought they owed a significant role to his geriatric homie Caron Butler, then because everyone saw he was the alpha over his last source Jabari. He’s a clown and ripping him tends to cheer everyone up.

Ajax is injured, but okay.

Thoughts:

1) Few teams have deep benches. Have you looked at Boston's bench? When the top three or four players use up all your cap space, how can you expect a good bench? This is just a silly argument, not based on the reality of the cap and having star players.

2) Once again, people want to trade Middleton because he is alternately a bum or always injured. If that analysis is correct, what team is going to want him? You can argue the Bucks shouldn't have extended him, but claiming he's bad and acting like all these teams will want him, makes no sense.

3) There is always a reason for rumors of specific trades. Either it's the GM or an agent. There is always an ulterior motive, none of which considers facts as being important. The names you will hear are the same ones all posters are throwing out there, because it's obvious what the Bucks need.

4) The Bucks are already a much better defensive team than they were two weeks ago. There is a definite need for on ball defenders, but I don't think a trade is critical.

Middleton & Lopez for Vucevic, Caruso, White, and Dosunmu works in the trade checker. Throw in the Portland 2nd and Beauchamp if we need to...

People acting like Pat is a dumpster fire that needs to go yesterday is the epitome of trade season Grass Is Always Greener syndrome.

You know what would be nice if we could get in a trade? A guy that has extensive playoffs / finals experience. A guy who doesn't shrink in the playoffs, and can still shoot and make good decisions under the playoff pressure. Oh, and it would be nice if had had continuity with the current roster, knew how to play with Giannis, etc.

That's Pat, as a known entity, right now. I understand he's not quite as athletic as a few years ago and it's been an up and down season for him, but the way people write him off completely discount all of the things we know he's good for.

(oh, and remember last year when he wasn't in Bud's 10-man rotation? and then by the end of the series, he was the only basically wing off the bench that could be trusted in a 6/7 man rotation?)

I agree it was a dirty closeout, I just think Midds is overpaid and can't be trusted. He is too inconsistent and injury prone. We could replace his PPG with 2 players for a fraction of what we are paying him...

This is the norm here. "Player X is old/slow/washed/a bum!" followed by "Horst needs to trade player X for someone better!".

It's fun to throw out trade ideas but at the end of the day we have very few tradeable assets with any real value.

Also, the "Player X is old and washed" is usually wrong. You wanna know what a team with a roster full of "old and washed" dudes looks like? Go watch Golden State (22-25) as they struggle to make the play-in this season.

But I'm told that's impossible cuz they have all these young athletic studs like Wiggins, Kuminga, Moody, etc....

Not many teams would want him alone which is why I suggested attaching some value to rid ourselves of that enormous contract. Is that not a smart play?

We have no good assets to attach. No FRP. MarJon/AJJ? Little to no value. Bobby/Pat? Same. And then we'd be looking at taking back over $40 million in salary with either of them AND Khris. And that team would have to be willing to pay him $65.6 million over the following 2 years.

I just don't see it.

Seems like an eh trade for the Jazz. We don't need a 3rd team with GS, they are our perfect trade partner.

I agree with these statements. However, personally I wanted Midds gone the first time I saw him attempt to bring the ball up the floor. At this point, I'm not sure what, if any, value he has. :banghead:

That is all fine and good. But we were talking about AJax. Like what do you envision him becoming at this point? What's his ceiling? A smaller PJ Tucker type starter where you need the right offense for him? A low-end starter? I like him and would rather have him, then trade him but I just don't see it beyond a nice long-career as an off the bench that won't hurt you. A guy who will bounce around on the vet min. Its nice to have but shouldn't stop us from trading for someone that can play now.

Like we cry about missing Sam Merril but totally forget the production from Grayson Allen for multiple years.
