Would I keep him as an end of the bench guy? Sure. Would I care if he’s dealt? Nope.
Gery Woelfel posts from 2015
I don't get this post. 2013-14 in Giannis's rookie year was fully under drew and played a ton/showed flashes. His only DNPs were early in the year, which is understandable based on Giannis's ability at the time just coming into the NBA. Giannis was a 71 game starter in 2015. Giannis was an extremely raw 19 year old we spent a first round pick based on potential alone. He needed to put on weight and get some coaching. AJJ is a 20 year old who is probably close to fully developed physically and had 3 years of high-end college coaching.
In 2015, we were the second worse team and couldn't waste promising assets to win-now. Now we have to do whatever it takes to win a championship.
So like this doesn't hold water in reality nor in context of who the players were and were we are as a team.
ETA: This is probably closer to our current situation:
Marjon is bad. I get he’s the young new toy, but he was playing terrible. Bud immediately benched him and AG/Doc has followed suit.

The point is young guys get better with playing time. The counter argument would be “well we’re trying to win a title.” While that may be true, when those developmental minutes would be at the expense of Pat Connaughton that point is moot. Not to mention we’ve seen countless times when Andre gets playing time the team seems to respond with energy.
One problem is I doubt how much Doc has actually watched the Bucks despite his “advisory” role. Some guys (skiles, bud etc) are just completely averse to giving young guys steady roles even if it’s to their detriment.
And anytime you can dunk on woelfel it’s fun. He wanted the Bucks to trade Giannis first because he thought they owed a significant role to his geriatric homie Caron Butler, then because everyone saw he was the alpha over his last source Jabari. He’s a clown and ripping him tends to cheer everyone up.
