Dinwiddie wasn't anything special on defense, that's true, but i think he did try vs Luka the other day and didn't to that bad. He wasn't good in playoffs on defense but i think he's taller or at least longer than THJ which can benefit him. But to answer your question straight up, i would rather see Dinwiddie on defense than THJ and i would also trust him with the ball a lot more since THJ is a like a Wile E. Coyote out there.
No, you have been saying that he's disaster in D.

And he was.
There's only 1 problem, Mavs far the best position is Pg, do we really need another Pg on the team? I don't care for this year, but you can bet that Dinwiddie will come only, if they promise him new solid contract. So there's going away possible upgrade on the wing. Him being very friendly with Kidd is meaning 1 more support for our beloved coach.
Dinwiddie also brings scoring and bench scoring specifically. Are you ok depending on THJ to be your main bench scorer?
I don't understand why would a team with 2 superstars and Exum, who is better than Dinwiddie, have 4th player in the same position, while being very thin on wings?
On 1 and 2 you have Luka playing 35+ minutes, Kyrie 30+ minutes and that leaves less than 30 minutes for Exum and Josh, Hardy being backup. Where are minutes for Dinwiddie? Yes injuries and I would be ecstatic if we could get Dinwiddie as a backup for cheap. But we won't.
I believe Dinwiddie will come in Dallas only, if they promise him substantial new contract next year and playing time. That would be basically end of cinderella story for Exum. Which is bad for Mavs, because he's much better fit with his D and much cheaper too.
Mavs need to spend money for the wings not another Pg.
