Honestly if you a fringe Allstar on a bad team but would be a friends starter on a contender, the wiz will make you one of the highest paiD guys on earth ....
Kuz. Get rich
He's locked in for the next 4 years. Money has nothing to do with it. He was a 4th option to Lebron in LAL. He knows what that was like. Why sign up to be the 4th option to Luka in DAL? He'd rather be the biggest fish in the smallest pond than to jump back into the ocean.
You act like this is Kuz last contract -
People tend to stay in Washington and get their biggest possible payout and Dallas pretty much doesn’t pay anyone but Luka and kinda Kyrie -
People are not lining up to play for Lebron or Cuban- and I mean FOR Lebron or Cuban
Plus think of this if you Kuz- if you go to Dallas and they win - it’s Luka and Kyries championship
If they lose it’s Kuz fault- no reason to go there if there is no glory in success and no contract upside Kuz already did that dance with the lakers
We can revisit this if WAS gives Kuzma a raise in three years. I don't think they will and it's unlikely he will still be there. They can say what they will, but there is no way they view Kuzma as a max player or as a cornerstone of their franchise. You don't build around a guy like Kuzma; he is an ancillary piece at best. He's on a descending deal that gets more team-friendly each year. And he'll be 32 at the end of this deal, so while his trade value will go up each year, his value on the court will go down.
The bottom line is that he'll almost certainly be somewhere else by the end of this contract. You are right about DAL not paying anyone, but that's 3+ years down the road and they likely would have moved him by then as well. But if he did stay in DAL he would be a lock for having a winning record for the next three seasons. If he becomes a free agent in 2027, he will get paid more for having a winning record and a few deep playoff runs in DAL than he will as tank commander in WAS.
No, this was not about money. It was a decision based on quality of life. He is enjoying his current job.
