Which duo would you rather build around in todays league?

I have come to loathe Draymond lately but don't see the argument here for Stockton/KD.

I think you have to go Curry and Dray for the proven fit and how dominant they are during their championship window even though Stockton and Durant have more overall value in terms of what they each provide to a typical roster. Stockton would be nasty shooting a high volume from three. You know he’d be taking like 7 or 8 threes a game.

Steph/Dray is too proven to go against them here imo. More so in today's league it shouldn't take as long to unlock them the way it actually did. Stockton+KD would obviously work too but with KD I always question how a team will function with his personality. Not sure they would actually get over the hump from just being contenders on a team that wins around 55-60 games every year without adding another top 20 guy to the mix.

Durant with a distributor like Stockton? Easy win for that duo. Curry can do a lot offensively, but Mr. Triple Single will hold him back.

You say this like we haven't seen them win 4 titles together

I have to take the proven option. Also, I like that Curry/Draymond gives you an elite anchor on each end of the floor.

That actually seems unlikely. One of the major detracting points about him was how hesitant he was to elevate his shooting volume; assuming he'd immediately overcome a non-era-related issue of that sort in this context doesn't make any sense to me.

They'd be a good pairing, of course, given KD's ability to play off-ball and so forth. He'd probably look similar to how he did as a Warrior. Can you imagine them just spamming THAT PnR? Blech, that'd be awful to defend.

I'm going Stockton and Durant, I think that combo is better balanced. My concerns around Durant's personality issues fly out the window when he has Stockton to help keep him in check. Draymond isn't just quite as good as the other three, and Steph, while the best player in the comparison, doesn't have a huge lead over Stockton's value

Stockton would be shooting a lot more threes today. At the same time, more than anybody he'd understand the importance of feeding Durant.

You say this as if the Warriors duo was Curry and Draymond. It wasn't. Draymond was like the 5th or 6th most important player and was lucky to be surrounded by generational shooters and scorers. They won their most recent title in spite of Draymond; dude had more turnovers than field goals in the Finals.

Put Draymond on the Pistons or Magic for all those years. Then let's see how he does.

You need to follow a different sport if you think Draymond was only the 5th or 6th most important player.

2020 proved how overrated Draymond is.

Except it was. Durant was only there for 3 years and in the other 7 seasons,

Curry + Dray - Klay lineups are +8.93 net
Curry + Klay - Dray lineups are -0.84 net

But Klay's PPG, you say. Scorers are a dime and a dozen in the NBA. Warriors are great because of their team dominance and that only happened with the Curry/Dray duo, not the Curry/Klay duo.

Draymond was like the 5th or 6th most important player and was lucky to be surrounded by generational shooters and scorers.

6th? Who is even 4 and 5? Old Iguodala and Livingston? Talk about being a generational hater.

Ah yes, the well-known FG to turnover ratio which we use everyday to evaluate players, especially someone whose biggest contribution is not scoring. Very useful indeed.

Put Draymond on the Pistons or Magic for all those years. Then let's see how he does.

Durant had “Mr. Triple Double” and could not pull off a win against Curry and Draymond; there is something to be said for length and consistency of a prime/career, and for possibilities where Harden was kept / some other superstar scorer is added, but on his own, that is not an improvement.

I’m beginning to think this is a satirical account that sets up puffballs for people to knock down. At least I hope it is.

If Draymond was so important as you're claiming, the Warriors wouldn't have had the worst record in the conference in 2020.

That season exposed him for the coattail rider he truly is.

Poor Durant, drawing the dud.

I will take Stockton, Curry, Klay, Iguodala, Durant, Draymond, Bogut and call it a team.

You have to have more contest.
I mean, 2016 warriors probably will beat 2016 OKC with Stockton instead of RW (or maybe not as RW was terrible in FG%).
But if you put Stockton and Durant in 2016 instead Curry and Dray, and Dray and Curry in 2016 OKC instead of RW and Durant, I would be for Stockton-KD team.
