One thing also, people who don't watch Pelicans games(and there is also a lot of top media guys that don't), don't know that Trey is actually not that great of defender. Being tall, long and fast doesn't automaticlly make you a good defender, sadly(ask Brandon Ingram).
Let's say Hornets land in position to draft Topic. Would you trade 14 + Murphy III to move up for Topic?
I've always found Murphy III to play excellent defense against the Hornets. His TS% on his career is better than Ingram's and on par with Mikal Bridges'. Ingram is a bucket getter though. I'm not sure Pelicans can better absorb his loss vs. Trey Murphy III.
From the Hornets perspective, Miles is matching Ingram in efficiency and counting stats, so we need Ingram less. We will likely return Miles using similar money owed Ingram. So if we targeted Ingram we'd be cutting Miles for nothing instead of paying him.
That feels counterproductive.
I would maybe consider it. Topic is injured right now, have to see him play more meaningfull games for Red Star before i could make that decision. Problem is Pels should be going for win-now moves, but they can maybe use Topic for future moves. That one is though question and good proposal.
