The Nets have the talent on both ends.
Anyway, hopefully Masai does not wait as long as Sean Marks to fire his coach
As noted above, Darko was hired to develop, and will have at least a couple of years to prove himself. We should expect to see growth in the team and the coach, as this season winds down, but especially next year.
You guys have access to his contract? (stating "this contract guarantees 2 years of employment regardless of the performance")
This ain't the G-League, he was not just hired to "develop"; many players (have) regressed under him.
If he keeps losing with a lineup made of IQ, RJ, Scottie, Yak, getting blown-out, he is going to lose the locker-room (if not already) then Masai will have no choice.
The trade deadline has finally passed. The team has replaced 3 opening night starters (OG, Siakam, Schroder), as well as Achiuwa, Thad and Porter. That's a massive change, and now we should be able to settle in and see what we have.
In terms of development to date, Barnes is coming along well and Gradey is rapidly becoming a valuable part of the rotation. RJ seems to be thriving in the system, and Quickley is showing flashes of what we need him to be. Agbaji and Nwora haven't been around long enough to comment on in terms of their progress. Poeltl and Olynyk aren't development pieces, but both are filling their roles well. The only player that has regressed in any sense is Trent jr, but even he hasn't regressed "massively". You could make a case that McDaniels has regressed as well, but I'm not sure there were big expectations for him. Boucher is still Boucher, he's just not getting any run with the young pieces that need time on the floor.
Finally, if you were paying attention at all when Darko was hired, you would have heard repeatedly that he, and the rest of the staff, were long on development, and that that was likely going to be his primary focus if things didn't pan out with the old "core". Let him do his job for a while, and get back to me at this time next year.
