Silverstein reporting the Packers are trying to get Aaron Jones to take a paycut and if he doesn't they will release him. Also says they are unlikely to re-sign Dillon

It was hard for me to imagine they wanted Dillon back. Dude didn't even look like an NFL player last year.

It's too bad Dillion is such a bad player. He seems like a great guy and loves Wisconsin.

They'll get it done, no reason not to. Both sides were reasonable the last 2 years and made this work.
I expect a $3-$4M pay cut.

It doesn't help Jones that this is a buyers market for RB, even with a bad draft class.

He spends every waking minute gaming. During the regular season it you go on twitch or tiktok at any time Dillon is gaming. I understand their entire life can't be football but his gaming reminds me of Lacy's eating habits....it will be his downfall. With that said I can see him getting no real offers and coming back for a one year prove it deal.

I don't see them wanting Dillon back even on a prove it deal. Backup RB is an obvious spot where they should be able to upgrade on the cheap.

I think you’d be surprised about the gaming habits of professional athletes then. Once they are done training, there isnt much else to do.

I've seen him on tiktok gaming late nights fri, sat, sun the nights before games... then right back to it a few hours after the game....or the day after the game. What he should be doing is resting and getting treatment to be in the best shape he can be.

Not shocking ..I know it happens a lot. But I know the best of the best aren't doing it at those times.

Yep. There is literally no reason to have him on the roster. He's a waste of a roster spot.

I wouldn't go that far. He's JAG level for sure but I do think he's rosterable guy. Specific to the Pack, if Jones would leave for more cash then having Dillon on a cheap short deal as a vet to pair with a couple rookies could make sense. You'd at least have a guy who understands the O scheme and protections.

But it Jones does return then I'd part ways with AJ even if he's willing to come back cheap. They need more upside behind Jones in that scenario.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

If Jones is gone (which would shock me), they will spend a relatively high pick on a RB replacement (3rd rounder, maybe higher depending on who drops). Still, there is no reason to have a slug like Dillon on the roster no matter what happens with Jones.

I loved the guy coming out of college and I love his personality and his love for GB, but he's not even worth a roster spot after last season. The dude looked done to me physically.

Agreed on Dillon's overall impact. Other pluses in his favor - he's a decent backfield pass blocker and receiver. IF he gets up to speed running north-south he gets some yards.

Of course, Jones is also a pretty good pass blocker in spite of being lighter, and he's surely a very good reciever out of the backfield. Jones is a far more explosive runner in all situations

I'd rather have a random 5th rounder than Dillon.

We could replace Dillon's production with a late round RB. Why keep him?

Agree 100%. Profound23's posts about his gaming habit were insightful, because it might explain why he was so terrible early in the season. He was literally tripping over his own feet at least once a game. That's a sure sign of not being in shape, and I'm being kind when I say it calls his training habits into question. It was embarrassing as hell, and I don't fully blame anybody for not being able to forgive or forget that.

That said, he was much better several games in. Both the eye test and the advanced stats showed that he was using his strength to get an extra yard or two that the majority of backs, starters or JAGs, wouldn't be able to get. Now to be clear, he'll never have the good YPC average because he won't get the long runs that boost your average and because he has too many runs in short-yardage situations, where his yards have to be contextualized. But he was exactly what you would be hoping for from a niche back like that, which is someone who can often still bull his way to 3-4 yards and keep you on schedule even when the defense knows you're planning to run. There's still a place for backs like that in the NFL, although obviously we're not going back to the days when guys like Jerome Bettis would be featured and the good receiving backs were just "3rd down backs." I think he's clearly shown enough to have another chance at locking down RB2 status for some team, whether it's GB or not.

The offense is definitely less dynamic with him out there, but I view him like an investment in CDs or bonds, which can be a useful part of your portfolio despite the lack of upside. Sometimes you just need that consistent 3-4 yards. However, this is all theoretical, because it would be insufferable if he showed up out of shape again. I'd be fine with letting him learn his lesson (or not learn it) for some other team, but there's no way he's not worth a guaranteed roster spot in the NFL. He doesn't have much NFL mileage, and the tape does show him doing things that few other RBs can do in terms of carrying defenders and moving piles.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.

People hold Dillon’s draft position against him. He’s a solid player. Nothing more nothing less.

He was bad last year almost every NFL back can get 3.4 YPC and he had a huge opportunity with Jones’ injuries.
