Agree 100%. Profound23's posts about his gaming habit were insightful, because it might explain why he was so terrible early in the season. He was literally tripping over his own feet at least once a game. That's a sure sign of not being in shape, and I'm being kind when I say it calls his training habits into question. It was embarrassing as hell, and I don't fully blame anybody for not being able to forgive or forget that.
That said, he was much better several games in. Both the eye test and the advanced stats showed that he was using his strength to get an extra yard or two that the majority of backs, starters or JAGs, wouldn't be able to get. Now to be clear, he'll never have the good YPC average because he won't get the long runs that boost your average and because he has too many runs in short-yardage situations, where his yards have to be contextualized. But he was exactly what you would be hoping for from a niche back like that, which is someone who can often still bull his way to 3-4 yards and keep you on schedule even when the defense knows you're planning to run. There's still a place for backs like that in the NFL, although obviously we're not going back to the days when guys like Jerome Bettis would be featured and the good receiving backs were just "3rd down backs." I think he's clearly shown enough to have another chance at locking down RB2 status for some team, whether it's GB or not.
The offense is definitely less dynamic with him out there, but I view him like an investment in CDs or bonds, which can be a useful part of your portfolio despite the lack of upside. Sometimes you just need that consistent 3-4 yards. However, this is all theoretical, because it would be insufferable if he showed up out of shape again. I'd be fine with letting him learn his lesson (or not learn it) for some other team, but there's no way he's not worth a guaranteed roster spot in the NFL. He doesn't have much NFL mileage, and the tape does show him doing things that few other RBs can do in terms of carrying defenders and moving piles.
