Former NBA champion Danny Green is one of many experts who isn't sold on the Phoenix Suns this season. Speaking on 'Inside the Green Room' podcast, he explained why he's hesitant to call the Suns a true title contender despite the presence of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
"I feel like they haven't got enough time," said Green to Harrison Sanford. "There's not enough time with their three healthy, the minutes, even though Bradley Beal's on a minutes restriction, he had a great game of the night. I think he had 31, and played well, but then Book goes down. This big three, I'll say that they had more minutes than James Kyrie and KD, but still not enough reps to see what they really look like.”
While there are some in the league who are still high on the Suns, there is a growing sense of uncertainty with them amid an injury-plagued season that has robbed the big three of so many minutes together. Whether it's Beal, Durant, or Booker, the Suns stars have each been in and out of the lineup all season, putting pressure on a shaky supporting carry the load each and every game.
At just 6th in the West, the Suns have not had the kind of dominant season they were hoping for but there is still time to get right. If they can clean up their act down the stretch of this season, it could set up the Suns for a major playoff run. But first, they will need some good fortune to break their way so that their team can be whole once again. Until we see the Suns at full strength for longer than a few games, it will be hard to judge their true potential but they've invested far too much to give up now.
