If they lose this game against Minnesota they'll currently be 3 seed because they lose tiebreaker with OKC, if they win they're in the driver's seat for 1 seed.

The race has been over for a while now. Realistically, it was over once Embiid went down, but practically speaking it was over a few weeks ago when the gambling sites put Joker at -5000 to win MVP (an insurmountable mark this late in the year).

At this juncture, Luka is just making a statement for next year.

It may be over, but that doesn't make it right.

Luka has two player of the month awards, has a team that was decimated by injuries, has the most ppg+apg+rpg since the merger, leads the league in scoring, had a trade deadline reshuffle, etc.

Top five man lineup in minutes played
Denver - 895
OKC - 793
Dallas - 162

The race shouldn't be over, but admittedly, it likely is due to bias and hard headedness.

Using salaries to point out how much time someone missed is kinda wrong on so many levels. The other tweet that you included had a much better argument i would say.

Funny you disregard games missed ranked 17th this year

Games missed by players who average at least 20 mpg

Mavs:
Kleber 38
Exum 26
J.Green 25
Lively 24
Irving 22
D.Jones 6
G.Williams 5
THJ 3
TOTAL: 149 games

Nuggets:
Murray 23
Gordon 9
Caldwell-Pope 6
Porter 1
TOTAL: 39 games

The difference is even much bigger than I thought. The more I look at it the more I think Luka should be the MVP.

Still wont make enough of a difference if Jokic has 6 games a head of the Mavs. Jokic leads in all other advanced stats more efficient and makes his teammates bettewr than Luka. Luka is second

Jokic Luka
PER: 30.9 28.1
BPM: 13.4 10.1
Vorp: 10.3 8.0
GP: 77 70

All this talk about injuries and yet Jamal Murray missed more games than Kyrie and Jokic played 7 more games than Luka.

Don't even mention how Luka is 6 wins behind Jokic.

No I don't think Luka has an argument. He is 2nd or 3rd along with SGA.

It's a full season award, not a post-trade deadline award though. Jokic has simply been the better and more impactful player over the whole season. Luka has come home with a wet sail, but once you start talking endlessly about injuries and hypothetical circumstances, you've basically admitting someone else has a stronger factual case. Pretty much all of the advanced metrics point to Jokic simply being more impactful and for longer.

Denver is such a good team because of Jokic, and they are a very poor team without Jokic on the floor. He's made his team mates good for so long now that people actually try and use the supporting cast argument against him, when tbh it's actually another argument for him.

The fact that Dallas/Luka fans have only really populated this thread in the last couple of months says it all.

37/11/7 and 3 steals on 15/19 shooting (and counting), as the Nuggets probably clinch the #1 seed. It was already over but now it's especially over.

Jokic is playing on a level we haven't seen since LeBron over a decade ago. He is so ingrained in everything the Nuggets do, and the Nuggets have been the best team in the NBA the past two years. I hope everyone appreciates what they are watching. Jokic is already an all time great.

masterful peformance by the MV3, for all the regular season marbles. vs. the best defense in the NBA
he simply embrassed the soon to be 4th time DPOY

Jokic should be pretty high right now in all time "clutchness", dude just plays so deliberatly when it matters
great leader as well

Well, he's pulled his team into a playoff spot with a chance of home advantage still on the table. 12 wins of their last 13. That's a statement for the playoffs, not next year.

Offensively he's as impactful as LeBron ever has been. Defense is the difference though.

Overall? No one has been better since LeBron peaked. Kobe, Durant, Curry, Kawhi. Jokic simply during this peak is a step above.

Best feel for the game, ever. Best court vision, ever. Most in control player I've ever seen. It'll be easier to accept after his prime, but he has as good of a case as anyone for best offensive player of all time. Jordan, LeBron, Jokic stand on their own imo

Jokic saving his 40 point games against Gobert and Victor has to be intentional lol.

I don't know about that. Just because it's so hard to specify. I think he's in the convo, and I think his feel, control, and court vision is the best ever. Overall BBIQ? Not sure.
