Golden State's only pick in this years draft is 52 so if they like someone they'll have to find a way to move up. Golden State has never really found a role for him, upcoming contract talks, Podz coming in last season and supplanting him in rotation, Klay coming back? Third year guy but still only 22 next season. Strong 6'6, 7' wingspan, not amazing 36% shooter but solid and something to work with. Played some games a few seasons in the G-League where he was a VOLUME shooter (8 and 11.5 threes attempted) at a 40%+ clip. Career per 36 numbers 15/5/2/1 on 58% TS% while not really having a role in Golden State. Outside of GP2 he had the lowest DRTG on that Warriors rotation last season, solid on ball, weird stats but like top 25 in loose balls recovered and charges drawn (per minute based) probably got a bit of hustle there. He gets into the lane a lot and is pretty efficient, 18% of shots coming from 0-3 at 73% and 24% of shots coming from 3-10 at 48%. Less than 5 feet, 45% of his baskets came unassisted, a dude who can attack a closeout. Obviously not saying they're the same player but feel like he could really be a Malik Monk/Donte type breakout player in a different situation.
A lot of "every three pointer he's maybe ever made in the NBA" fluff here but also a lot of good stuff.
I think you've identified an underutilized potential breakout player. My only concern is his inability to pass. After a year of Beasley, I'm not sure I sign up for that again.
He's an option, but not my first option. What's the deal look like, how does the money work? Also, defensively, isn't he more of a wing guy than a POA guy? Do you think he can get through ball screens?
