It won't be Sac (IMO). They have Barnes and Murray with Lyles coming off the bench.

What they really need is a C. They would be extremely happy with Yves Missi (or maybe Filipowski) if he falls to 16, IMO.

Maybe if you could find a three-team deal where they get the C they want to back up Sabonis?

And OKC tends to hold onto their picks (because... well, they are pretty good at selecting talent in the draft).

I still think our best chance (and it is slim) is with Portland. But there has to be a guy they really want with #2.

We don’t need a center we could just resign Len or more thank likely Try Lyles is the backup center. Kuzma would fit especially considering I think monk will get a big deal from someone. Kuzma would allow us to bring Barnes off the bench where he belongs while getting more size if the deal could be Huerter, Mitchell, and 13 for kuzma

Count me all in for this trade for the Wizards. They get a young PG, Huerter who I think returns back to last years' form and #13. It allows the Wizards to play Bilal major minutes at PF along with Vukcevic to see what we have.

Having 2, 13 & 26 is about all the rookies they can handle. If they can package 26 + 51 to move up a bit all the better.

For Sac this is puzzling. I guess a forward rotation of Kuzma, Murray and Barnes is rock solid. But the guard rotation will be thin with Fox, Ellis and Duarte? And I think that the Sabonis/Len rotation is sub-optimal.

Wow... I *love* that comparison of Castle to Holiday! Well done, Zards!

I like the idea of Castle especially if we are trading down with Portland for example. Castle/Deni/Bilal over time with dynamic PG or C could be really interesting.

I gotta say, I have been all in on Castle. But this whole deal about him insisting that he's a PG, and supposedly declining to workout for teams that already have an established PG. I mean hasn't he gotten the memo about the whole NBA evolving into positionless basketball thing? It has caused me to sour on him a bit.

Guard rotation most likely Fox, Ellis, and MLE hopeful Melton this is assuming Monk leave. What we need is to get bigger and that’s what Kuzma does at what would be a small price for us considering.

Hopefully you guys would land Flagg for helping us

Yeah, you guys still owe us for Webber. :nonono:

But yes I'd do that trade. Huerter (former Terp), Mitchell (reunites with Butler) + 13 for Kuzma. Swap 45 for 51 and call it a day.

Draft Risacher (2), Tyler Smith (13), Cam Christie (26), Adem Bona (45)

Roster:
PG- Poole, Mitchell, Butler
SG- Coulibaly, Davis, Christie
SF- Risacher, Kispert, Huerter
PF- Avdija, T.Smith, Baldwin
C - Vukcevic, Bagley, Bona

4 players 19 and younger, no one older than 25. That's a nice kick start to the rebuild.

One thing to recall is that this rebuild will depend almost entirely on our performance in the draft -- not just this one but over the next few years.

That's inevitable for the simple reason that we have no developed talent on our roster. We have no vet who is going to bring us a really good, established (young) player in a trade.

No one has a crystal ball, no one makes outstanding draft decisions pick after pick after pick over the years. For that reason, it should be obvious, the more players a team like ours drafts the better job we're likely to be doing in making a bright future possible.

&, yes, that includes R2 picks -- & even undrafted guys. Two years ago, in the run up to the '22 draft, Zards & I were both pushing for us to get Keon Ellis. He went undrafted; he should have been signed. Look up this page to the post where he's mentioned as part of Sac'to's guard rotation. You bet he is! Keon Ellis is an outstanding young NBA player.

We need more picks. Because we need more rookies. Because we have no talent & no other way to acquire talent.

No Davion Mitchell; no thanks. He hasn't worked out. On his way out of the league.

Back in Janurary or February, some guy on the draft board thought the Kings should "consider" trading Mitchell for Deni. I told him how laughable that was, and this guy thought I was crazy for daring to insinuate that Mitchell was nowhere near worth Deni.

Agree to disagree on this one.

First, he is filler on the trade.

Second, I am guessing he sticks in the L for quite some time (he has shown the ability to run point, hit the open 3 and play defense. Is Davion Mitchell going to be your starting PG, no. But he is improving year over year and looks to be a viable backup moving forward (IMO).

The material part of the trade is Huerter and the 13th pick for Kuz. I do that because I think Huerter is going to get back to where he was last year.

How I would criticize this trade is: It would be better to get multiple picks for Kuz in 25, 26 or beyond. Kevin Huerter could easily make us a better team next year.

I'd do Kuzma+#26 for #10+#29+Collins and don't look back...

I think it's a stretch to say that Mitchell has shown the ability to play PG. In his best season, he averaged 5.4 assists per 36 minutes with just a 2/1 A/TO ratio.

I agree that Mitchell will probably stick around a little past his rookie contract, but probably only as a vet-minimum journeyman deep bench player. He might find a home as a 3&D non-playmaking PG alongside a team that runs their offense through a big wing - a poor man's Derrick Fisher.

Mitchell played @2100 minutes as a rookie. His 2d year he played 1450 minutes. This year he played under 1100 minutes. Would you re-sign him next year? I can't see why.

Maybe you turn out to be right. If so, the trade would be a good one in a sense. But... Huerter is not appropriate to our rebuild timeline. So, your last point is significant:

Read on Twitter

All this guy Evan Sidery seems to do is read Hoopshype rumors about trades and then restate the rumors in the most aggressive way possible.

Right... no thanks on that one! Kuz's declining contract likely means we'll be able to trade him pretty easily. Collins not so much.

First, you have to understand who is around him, how the Kings utilized him and his capabilities.

He is definitely not a PG you are going to run your offense through. And in Sacramento often he is playing next to Fox or Monk who get primary facilitating duties alongside Sabonis. It is like criticizing someone on Denver for not getting enough assists next to Jokic.

And yes to Mitchell as a journeyman.

But remember, I was only defending him as part of the trade. He is not awful, could improve (he is still young) and his contract expires at the end of next season.

I am going to disagree with you on Mitchell if you base it on minutes. Just look at the personnel Sac added. His offense improved and his defense stayed solid. I think he will be signed to a vet minimum contract and will be a solid guard for someone that will get minutes in a guard rotation (guess we need to bookmark this one).

And yes, "I think"/IMO that Huerter is going to bounce back. That has two possibilities. It either impacts our wins (bad in a tanking year) or he becomes a very good trade asset. If we could then turn Huerter into another asset - well, there you have it.

But as stated previously, I think that Kuz becomes more valuable over time (sans an injury).

Return to Washington Wizards
