They're in a win-now window. They have Fox and Sabonis (26 & 28 respectively) and emerging star in Murray. They can't really take on a "project" with their current roster and wait for him to develop. And this is a fairly weak draft too. It makes perfect sense to me that they'd try to get another quality player to put them closer to contention.
They’re screwed because their assets to get better are Barnes, Huerter, and 13 in a weak draft.
Also Murray will be getting an extension next year and they are going to likely lose Monk.
