That franchise is screwed

They're in a win-now window. They have Fox and Sabonis (26 & 28 respectively) and emerging star in Murray. They can't really take on a "project" with their current roster and wait for him to develop. And this is a fairly weak draft too. It makes perfect sense to me that they'd try to get another quality player to put them closer to contention.

They’re screwed because their assets to get better are Barnes, Huerter, and 13 in a weak draft.

Also Murray will be getting an extension next year and they are going to likely lose Monk.

They are capped at mid, Imo

Oh, fair enough. I didn't realize you were talking about the general outlook of that team. I thought you were criticizing them for trying to trade.

If Kings are likely to lose Monk they might have interest in Barnes + 13 for Brown + 19. We would have our full MLE and maybe a Trent trade somewhere in there.

Poeltl - Olynyk
Barnes - Barnes
Barrett - Agbaji
Trent - Dick
Quickely

I would feel very comfortable going into next season with that line up. The difference between 13 and 19 could be a very impactful player.

What if Mogbo is not a C but a wing? He had old film of him shooting threes in high school and now look at him. He sure looks like Kawhi Leonard rather than Kenneth Faried.

Maybe if T.Salaun is on the board, I can see how that makes sense. He's probably the player they'd trade up for.

I finally thought of a good comp for him: what if Precious had better playmaking instincts & touch

That's a high end starter at worst.

He's on the older side, and needs to prove he can (and just as importantly, will) shoot it if left open, but yeah - he's got the makings of a contributor. Was my favourite UDFA target, but I think he gets picked now. It's one of the reasons I've advocated for trading down from 31.

High upside wing, might not make it to 19, but I think Masai will be tempted to draft him if he's there.

I'm actually leaning towards Ryan Dunn now, but like George, I don't know if he's there at 19 either.

Real potential as a shooter and a solid connective passer, but floats a lot in games and has zero burst, limiting his long-term offensive potential imo. For someone who's major selling point is his size and length, he's also a really poor rebounder.

Bruce Brown for the pick

They mentioned the names of HBarnes & Huerter being included as well as potentially other picks which is essentially what they tried to offer for Siakam which is much more likely the level of player they're HOPING for. I get they may not get that but I just highly doubt that Brown is the caliber of player they have in mind but if they do I would FedEx him for same day delivery then either they can lock in one of the best back up PGs (ie/ McCain, Collier or Carter) or they can take that flyer on Saluan that we all know Masai wants to lol

First guess, is the Lakers see if they can trade this pick for a win now player.

Failing that I think they'll take one of Edey, Carrington of TDS.

Obv depends what they want to prioritize but I think a lot of WC teams are going to want to add size & AD hates playing C as well. Add Edey, add to the Lakers' circus/eyes/ratings, Edey is a very easy target for LeBron and can set good screens to let him get downhill.

But other part of me can see them maybe liking Carrington to be a "bold" young player looking to step up & score so they can let DLo go and use the money elsewhere. Then ofc with LeBron/most NBA teams, you can never have enough 3+D players so TDS would make a lot of sense for them as well.

Ware, they need another big. They have taken max Christie and JHS a wing & a guard the last 2 drafts. This yr they'll go big man

He's older but also a late bloomer, Masai has not shied away from taking these types before. Really unique prospect that offers something different than everyone else in this class. I think he should be there at 31 but who knows and if he is Masai's target, they probably just take him and won't chance trading down in a draft where there is no consensus.
