I’ve been saying Celtics in 5 or less since like the second round. Mavs were never good. Timberwolves just had an awful offense. If Ant wasn’t so pitiful that series, Mavs wouldn’t have made it out

Tatum learned two years ago what Edwards learned this season.

LeBron carrying teams for years and people loving it has got people obsessed with having one dude carry their team all season.

It’s absurd.

How can you watch that game and think Tatum simply has to score more???

He missed some shots but his unselfishness led to easy 3s for the Celtics all night.

Mavs don’t have a chance at defending that.

Generally casual fans just appreciate scoring. Surprised to see we still have a bunch of those on "hardcore" basketball forum like RealGM. Tatum played beautifully tonight, just made the right and non-flashy plays.

Tatum is asked to play as more of a passer than in the past. I think people are enamored by difficulty of the shots Kyrie and Luka make.

I just think the Jordan/Kobe/Lebron era of carrying inferior players to a title is over. The game is so fast and high scoring, having more depth and spread around talent is superior to one singular star.

It is no coincidence that the two best passers in the league, Jokic and Doncic, are the best players in the league.

Scoring isn't everything, but get real. Dude was mid as **** tonight.

Mid? Elite defense, left team in rebounding, made some shots. Was essentially the PG. How many points did they get off him driving to the basket and the ball being passed around.

He wasn’t efficient tonight, but he was impactful in all areas.

You can disguise it however you like. Performing in the Finals matters. Especially for “superstar” players. 6-17 16 points isn’t gonna cut it. And 6 of those 16 came in garbage time when he was the only starter in the game. All the big time players get judged in the finals. That was a dud game from Tatum

Who care?

They were up 29. They won by 18. He was a big part of that. Y’all so worried about rankings, and that dog in him, and hero shots.

I said nuggets wouldn’t make it out the west and Jokic was a terrible defender during regular season. I got banned for that and called a troll. This board was so gung ho about nuggets repeating during the season that they ignored reality

The other thing I wasn’t t to point out is, the lob dunk is not the most unstoppable play in basketball. They didn’t get as single one tonight. They gave up some layups to Luke, who has to score a lot more if Dallas is going to be competitive.

I think Luka needs to average 40 ppg this series for the Mavs to win.

I think they’re cooked just based on matchup. Boston’s main struggle is obviously big men. Lively, Washington and Gafford are simply not good enough for us to care tho. Tatum might out rebound their big man…. So honestly, if Tatum can get some signature games then this will be a blowout every game.

This series is over. I don't see any scenario in which Dallas wins it. Boston just has too much talent. Their best player played like a G-Leaguer today and they still won in a blowout.

Brad Stevens is one of the best minds in the sport. Credit to Ainge (another one of the best minds in the sport) for discovering him.

Very important for Dallas to come away with a split in the 1st two games if they want to win this series. It's either that or they need an injury from one the Celtics top 4-5 players. Winning 4/5 against this team will be uber tough given the talent discrepancy - splitting makes it feasible to truly steal a game 5 then down the road and/or even go 3-1 if you can snag game 3 at home as well. Going down 0-2 really makes it tough.

Definitely doable though, they need Kyrie to go off which he is more than capable of. Defensively it will be tough but the Celtics can go cold in any given game and since they rely on the 3 a lot Dallas just needs to keep it close. They have two closers if they game is within reach late in the 4th. That's what that they did against Minnesota. Pacers on the other hand were able to keep it close for much of the series but did not have the necessary closers to steal those games and made terrible mistakes in crunch time. Should be really interesting come Sunday with 2 days off. Plenty of time for Kidd to make adjustments.

I hate that the Mavs went from clowning Gobert to being scared of Porzingis.

Simply had no gameplan for him on offense or defense

Porzingis simply offers way more offensively and despite how good Gobert is defensively I think Porzingis offers a bit more lateral quickness

Throughout the season, nobody had an answer to Porzingis, neither do the mavs. Shows how bad the east is , that they did not need him to get to the finals. He can shoot over anybody except Lively in this series, and he can drive around lively. Unless Porzingis gets hurt or has conditioning issues, this series is over. Mavs cannot play Gifford and Lively if they want to get porzingis to the perimeter. With Porzingis in the lane, even kyrie cannot drive and finish.
Porzingis is the Finals MVP.
