19. Toronto Raptors – SG/SF Johnny Furphy – Kansas
Pairing Gradey Dick and Johnny Furphy with one another gives the Toronto Raptors two solid athletes on the perimeter who can both become three-point shooting threats on a nightly basis. However, the Raptors may take this opportunity to target depth for their frontcourt next to Kelly Olynyk and Jakob Poeltl. There is still no telling what Masai Ujiri and the Raptors' front office have planned this offseason.

This was a fun read (the trades are detailed and realistic)... until I got to the #19 pick. Furphy? Sometimes I think writers don't have a lot of connection or insight to the Raptors FO so they go with a fun narrative choice. Edey is Canadian, so they pick him. Gradey is a big white former Jayhawk wing shooter, so the Raptors should draft the next big white former Jayhawk wing shooter (Furphy). It is lazy.

We don’t own the Pacers pick.

We literally do own it, it was one of the 3 picks we got out of it.

Yeah, someone else already explained it. Read the thread.

That would be my guess as well, and I hate it. Matas is also very much a Masai type.

I love all this trade up talk because you know it’ll never happen. Every year, same rumours. Have we ever traded up? Not in the first round, right? I remember the Vasquez for a 2nd (Norm) and a future 1st (OG), but never a 1st on draft night. What a trade, btw.

Matas would be incredible. I'd rank him 2nd on my board, and that's just because I'm believing in Sarr's potential.

I could see them wanting him but I don't know if he'll fall that far.

I wouldn’t want to give up our few tradable assets to get Salune tbh. I’m not seeing the high level upside

I’m guessing it might be a Poeltl move to get the 9 and assets and then draft Edey at 19 if he’s there (which from reporting he won’t be)

Not seeing the Matas hype either. Would have to believe in his shot turning around and he’s not really an on ball guy or amazing defender. Springy athlete though and tall for what it’s worth.

Out of the wings/forwards in the lottery he’s near the bottom for me tbh

Zach
Holland
Cody
Matas
Tidjane

6'1 without shoes

I actually did a double take on the weight. I think the only guy I can think of playing at that height and weight is Trae Young. Even Dennis Schroeder is about 175 lbs which is 10 lbs heavier. Those two both play high level PG as in running the offense and making difficult passes and reads. Dillingham is more like a gunner with some passing skill but you know his first instinct is to shoot.

Another guy I thought of as a similar player type for Dillingham, De'Aaron Fox. He is a couple inches taller and 185 lbs. Can Dillingham add 20 lbs in a few years?

I think if Dillingham falls it is because people don't trust his size. It is just tough to start in the NBA and be a small PG, unless you have outlier skills.

Sacramento probably takes Dillingham as a Malik Monk replacement

Maybe they do, but what do you think of a Fox/Dillingham backcourt with Sabonis anchoring the defense. Sounds like the defense takes a nosedive. I do like Ja'Kobe Walter there a bit better.

More likely they're aiming for a 3 team deal involving Bruce Brown and the 19th pick.

I cannot fathom trading Poeltl unless they have a center replacement lined up, and I mean a known quantity like Hartenstein or Claxton. Much as I like Missi or Ware, they haven't proven anything at the NBA level.

I am 95% sure that Toronto if trading up it would be to get Zach Edey because we have a history of reaching on drafts. Secondly, we obviously value Canadian guys. Thirdly, we showed our hand in putting only his interview on Raptors' socials. It is not like Edey needs publicity.

If we dump Poeltl as part of it, then it clears Edey's runway to start. Honestly, it would explain the huge number of undrafted guys we seem to be working out as opposed to guys in the 19-31 range.
