Some team has made it known they will take Edey ahead of our pick, thus the interest in moving up into the lottery. So Portland, Miami and LAL have to be leapfrogged. Not much different than when they wanted Cason Wallace and OKC jumped up and took him, but were happy to take Gradey Dick. Our draft history suggests they don't like to make bold moves at the draft and just move onto the next option.
Yeah, I def woudn't expend additional assets trying to majorly move up for Edey unless you're only moving up like a spot or two with the Magic or Bulls and it's a minor move ala Vince/Jamison.
There are def players I would move up for like a Holland or Topic if they drop into the early teens but that again would depend on the assets being moved. One would hope a lightly used Bruce Brown or Boucher would suffice, but I doubt it.

I support moving up if you really believe in the player. I just don't think the Raptors do.
To me it sounds like they're just looking to fill out their bench with this draft, like how they traded the pick to get Obgaji. So for them, yeah, if Brown could get it done then why not move up to get the guy they have a little higher, because Brown is going to be pushing for a buyout the second they guarantee his deal and we'll be in another Dragic situation.
Yep, that sounds right. Really does depend on how the board shakes out on draft night and who's potentially available/what draft partners want to move back, but they're in a position in a flat draft where there will invariably be a bunch of interesting options if they just stand pat. And I know people will hate it, but if they slightly move back with a desperate team and gain more assets, that should be another consideration.
That's definitey something they should/will consider with that 2nd rounder when teams come calling.
But really, who knows what the hell to expect with this front office after these past few years.
