Re: Zach Edey, 7-4
I think Ayton-level IMPACT (not comparing him to Ayton, but his level of impact on winning and playing for an NBA team) is his floor. Unless he comes out draining 3's like Lopez can now, he won't grow higher than that. But Edey works incredibly hard and is also durable, so its possible. He should go late lottery. OKC could really use his skillset off the bench and Chet can play with him too

My projection of Edey (and Clingan for that matter) is a below average starting C to a high end backup.
Somewhere between Hartenstein and Zubac
Reading comprehension is important. No where does it state that I am 'more right' if Edey is just a role player.
I have already stated my opinion of Edey multiple times. In the median case, he isn't in a NBA player. If he can survive on defense; he can a be an efficient bench scorer who ruins your offense by becoming the offense, a starter on a bad team, a bench center for a good one. But the probability of this hapening is quite low by my estimation. Just for reference, here is my project for Edey. He has a very fat tail of good, but his median outcome is incredibly low.
But it is clear that Edey fans are too scared to put a stake in the sand.
It is pretty hilarious that you would attempt to make your oponion look scientific by posting a graph that isn't based on any actual data.
I think Edey is going to be good. Just for reference I drew a picture of him dunking on Anthony Davis. About to post it here. LMAO!
Keeps on resorting to personal attack. I'm out of this thread and will be back next year to call out fools. Edey delusion is out of control.

Also funny that after demanding others go on record with thier position your made up graph says every outcome including semi-star and all star is possible. Hedge your bets much.
Most likey: you are a jealous hater who seeks to satiate your own insecurities by putting others down
Likely: you will continue to make up nonsense
Least likely: you will get a chance to take your victory lap calling out the people who actually had the balls to predict an outcome instead of saying all outcomes are possible and making a stupid graph about it

Also crying about personal attacks and stating you can't wait to call others out as fools in the same post.

Re: Zach Edey, 7-4
My hot take Edey will evolve into a top ten center in the League and will be remembered as the best player from this draft. He will be a force on offense and a better than average defender.

I think that is close to my expected case.
So much talk about Edey not being able to guard on the perimeter, which very few centers can do anyway. But who will guard Edey? I have yet to see any good answer to that. Edey could put an end to the small ball, 5 out trend in the NBA. My upside case for him is MVP and Hall of Fame.

Re: Zach Edey, 7-4
I believe the decision on whether to draft Edey is the biggest decision of this draft. If he blows up, not easy to replicate in other drafts due to his uniqueness physically. A team could have an advantage for several years before adjustment. If he busts or is just a role player, no big deal then in a weak draft especially. Its a tough call in top 10 or so but the risk of missing out on an outlier increases thereafter.

The lobs will need to be thrown about 4 inches higher on average to clear lengthy NBA defenders.

More or less my take, especially when you consider that he would be, by some metrics, the best college player other than Hank Gathers to ever be so dominant at the NCAA level and not have a Hall of Fame career.

I got no skin in this Edey game but this will be a "fun" thread to revisit as his NBA career unfolds

its his work ethic that encourages me. the reason he did so well in the sprints is that he clearly works his ass off.

Re: Zach Edey, 7-4
Zach might be the best screener in the NBA from day one. He's incredibly strong and technically sound; he leans his weight into his picks and makes heavy contact. He rarely if ever slips or ghost screens. Notice how adept he is at finding the right angles, re-screening, and Varejao screening/flipping the screen. He's also amazing at carving out space and laying those Gortat screens in the paint for his penetrating teammates.
For what it's worth, Sam Vecenie rated him as the best screener in all of NCAA D1 basketball:

Re: Zach Edey, 7-4
Edey is clearly a bust. Slow, can't spread the floor and doesn't fit with today's NBA. He will be out of the league in 3 years. Any team that takes him will be wasting a pick.(public)
I hope my heat takes him 15 (private)

Edey might just be what Scoot needs to be an effective player.

Ayton looks like he has never seen anyone set a screen in his life.
