Simplest answer, we need a point guard and he clearly was going to be a top 10 pick.

there are lots of PG prospects projected as lottery picks. From what i read, injuries, lack of athleticism, sub par 3 pt shooter, bad defender. I just dont see the upside more than a tall, good passing player who could continue to be injury plagued

A partially torn ACL isn't a deal breaker or make him injury plagued, especially with our current roster. His free throw shooting is very good, which signals to me that he will become a better long range shooter in time. His athleticism isn't like others, but championship level teams don't usually have the best athletes. It can help, but there are other more important factors. Topic would be our best playmaker and make our other players better. At 18 in a weak draft, that would be a big plus. But I'm also just a person on a couch like the rest of us. So maybe this partially torn ACL does lead to other injuries or he never develops a better shot and he is back in Europe in five years. But we see the need on our team for a legit playmaker and Topic fits that. If his intangibles and competitive nature are high, then he can cover up for what he lacks athletically.

Tristan Da Silva

Older player that can contribute day one, good measurables and extremely versatile.

Not a great athlete, but spaces the floor, great passer and off ball defender. Can play 3-5 dependent the matchup.

If he was a couple of years younger he'll be a top-5 pick imo.

Surprised on the Carrington love. Does this FO draft another PG project two years in a row?

Also no to Collier ffs. Last thing we need is Fultz 2.0. Not a point guard and a shooting guard that can’t shoot.

everything ive read, its more than just 1 partially torn ACL. and championship level teams absolutely have some of the best athletes. Are you saying Kyrie, Tatum, Brown, White arent great athletes?

I do agree that Carrington is a project, but he feels like a much different kind of prospect than Black.

After 1 season in the NBA we still don’t know what AB does well outside defense, but we at least see Carrington has a shot and not afraid to pull up off the dribble.

I voted other, but my preferences are Dillingham, then Ja'kobe Walter, then Zach Edey or Missi.

This assumes we are out of range for Holland and McCain. If we trade up, this list grows a lot.

There are quite frankly more names I DON'T want then names I do. I could totally see the Magic drafting someone like Furphy and me throwing my computer out of a window.

I like him too - I’d be surprised if he’s there at 18 though

 I honestly forgot about Da Silva. Working thirds and watching both my boys with 4 hrs sleep will do that. Anyway, he was at the top of my draft board. I do like Edey as well, with Carrington rounding out the three for me. I like other players just honestly don't have the time to do anymore reading up on players. I'm sure others have better insight than me.

I have to agree. He would need a lot of work, which makes waiting a year a difficult proposition as it could realistically be a few years until he can contribute significantly. Especially since PGs typically need more time than most.

The scouts I've spoken to say he is an incredible, jaw-dropping passer, but that's really about it right now. He would need a lot of time to round out his game.

I haven't followed this draft. I would bet on a player who has never been brought up on this forum and projected to be a second round pick.

(Posted from other draft thread just to save my picks in this thread):

My 2 main targets I would be excited about are:

Tristan da Silva and Jared McCain

da Silva feels like a perfect backup for Franz (something we really need). I think he will end up being one of the better overall players in this class. He's also German which makes him even better with Wagner bros.

McCain is the offensive minded smooth shooting combo guard this team lacks. Feels like McCain and Suggs (or even Black and McCain) would be a pretty complimentary back court.

Sam Vecenie suggested today on his podcast that the Bulls might be looking to trade back from 11, and it sounded like18/Orlando might a good landing spot for the Bulls to still get the guy they want(Shannon).

If the Magic really like someone surely to be gone at 18 would you package that Denver pick to move up in this draft, or are we better off holding on to the Denver pick for a potential trade?

Feel like Carter could help us out this year, while guys available at 18 are probably more future rotation guys.

if all it took was 18 & Denver's pick to guarantee the guy you want then do it. I'm not playing the what if game for a pick vs what I know today I could have
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

Maybe this really isn’t a problem or a big deal but Carter has the same agent as Anthony Black. Not sure how well that would go over given how little we played Black the second half of the season.

Just a different prospect. He can shoot and create offense in a pick and roll.

He's just raw in every other aspect and obviously doesnt have the defense or versatility Black does.

Whoever we pick tonight is going to be hopefully because that’s who they think we need to beat the Celtics. With that in mind even though we really need guard play we have to be better at rebounding and blocks. So if they pick a center it will be someone with those as strengths for sure.
