To Neubeck's point though, yes, a GM just doing what the fans want all the time is silly (especially if the GM has reason to believe it will be bad long term). That said, the fans are the ones that make this thing go by watching games, buying tickets, getting merchandise, etc. and if you ignore what they want completely, not sure that is the best either.
