Miami/Houston

Post#1 » by louc1970 » Wed Jun 26, 2024 8:58 pm

Rumors of Houston’s interest in Durant lead to a high cost to bring in Durant. Probably some picks, and 2 of the younger players along with FVV.

A cheaper alternative may be to go after Butler.

Miami trades Butler
Houston trades FVV, Sengun, #3. If not #3 then a 25 and 27 FRP.

Houston gets that primary player to lead the young guys.
Miami gets another big to pair with Adebayo. A better PG to move Rozier to the bench or for other pieces.

Woah, massive overpay here.

Sengun + FVV is where I would start if I am Houston.

Feels like Houston would trade for Butler to put him WITH FVV, rather than instead of FVV. Seems like it should be centered around Jimmy for Brooks/expirings plus value.

I would absolutely not trade Sengun for Butler. Franchise crippler right there. Butler is too old for the long term and not enough to make a contender in the short term

I like Butler to HOU, but throwing in Sengun is truly overboard. FVV + #3 is a LOT, imo. Butler would make HOU, possibly, a real contender…assuming the loss of FVV wasn’t a huge blow…I guess the hope is that Amen is ready for more on-ball major minutes.

I think this is more fair to HOU…
MIA sends: Butler, #15
HOU sends: #3, FVV

I don't think we give up 15

So you would be looking at a straight swap of FVV for a Butler rental. Which leaves us without a PG, so might have to look at a Harden Sign and Trade Scenario in conjunction.

Sengun and #3 would both obviously be off the table.

Ok. Brooks and ? Adams?
From a Miami perspective I wonder how many SFs they want - Robinson, Juarez, Brooks.

Someone else would pay more than Houston.
Houston needs a booker Trae or Mitchell.

Yeah that’s not gonna happen.
Sengun isn’t going anywhere.

I have been on the side of a Durant trade from the Suns due to their cap space. However, the Rockets is not a team I had on the list for KD. So I do not get this perspective.

Salary wise? Brooks, Landale, Tate, etc, as salary. Find the incentive in terms of picks and one young player that makes it work. :dontknow:

Way too much for butler. Cmon, the guy misses too many games.

Sengun should be off limits in trade proposals until people understand his value

I think the Rockets should move Sengun before he gets off his rookie contract, but I don't like a Butler trade for either team.

You made the suggestion to swap in Brooks. Who you want to send?

Except the rumors of moving Sengun are coming from Rocket sources.

Whichever salary makes the deal work? If Miami agrees to value somewhere?

I wasn’t taking it upon myself to solve the whole deal. Just pointing out that it seems like Butler/Brooks would be swapped for each other rather than played together, and that if Houston is dealing for Butler, they probably want to keep FVV. That was the extent of my desire to suggest.
