Ringer NBA podcast speculates that the Warriors don't think there will be much of a FA market for Klay.

So they think they can lowball him if he can't get good offers.

But Klay might take a "spite" low-ball contract from another WC team like the Lakers or Suns to get back at the Warriors.

So the Warriors “disrespect him” by offering him less than he thinks hes worth, and then he takes an even smaller contract to get back at them? Im not sure thats getting back at the warriors considering they arent making a priority to resign him.

That is the reason, perceived respect, or lack of it. I could actually see that happening. It won't be a vet min or anything but if things get really sour and he feels disrespected, I think he might do that.

But I dont see how that is in any way effecting the Warriors if they arent making (or making him feel) like a priority. They wont care very much if he signs elsewhere.

OK yeah, I see what you mean. I guess he could look at it like oh, you think you can lowball me and then I'll come crawling back to you for even less, HAH! But personally IDGAF, just accept your market value (which the Warriors are probably already offering over) or get out. Thanks for the memories, you'll always be a legend, but we need to move on past the drama and cobble together the best chance to get Steph one more chip, or blow it up and rebuild (unlikely). And frankly, I don't believe Klay can play a large role in either plan.

Sounds more like a guy feeling too much entitlement. The team maxed him while hurt. He was also a top 10ish paid player while not having to play for 2 years. And then when he did play, he was given carte Blanche to do as he please without any repercussions.

You'd think he'd be a little more grateful for the great situation he's been in. I don't think the team is being disrespectful. They do seem to want him back, but on terns that would help the team.

I wonder what the general reaction will be if he comes back at 2/48. Is there anyone who thinks that would be a solid result for the team?

Just the fact that they are so unafraid to take any risks one way or another irritates me to no end. It's the definition of treadmilling.

I never liked Bob as a draft evaluator, but I will miss his ability to get deals done.

I remember the Cohan/Rowell/St. Jean days. The Dubs were always the team that couldn’t make the deal.

who would pay big money for someone who could not close games in regular season? i mean unless you have terrible SG (bucks), you would never waste your money on him.

You don't like that the FO is "unafraid to take any risks"? So you wish they were more afraid to take risks? You want less risk?

He basically closed every game in the regular season, albeit not as well as he would have liked.

The biggest problem with Klay now is that I don't know what position he defends? He's a turnstile. He's not quick enough to stay in front of guards and not strong enough to keep forwards from pushing past him.

He's basically an aggregator, he's aggregating Slater's 25% that Klay stays that he said on some pod.
