Franz is so good at this, but shout out for the bigs for the screening/Gortat screens. WCJ is notably great at these which goes underlooked.

For the second consecutive year, Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley is the head coach of the USA Select Team.
Following practice earlier this week, Mosley spoke with HoopsHype about signing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in free agency, Franz Wagner’s extension, extension talks with Jalen Suggs, and more.
What was the significance for the Orlando Magic to land a notable free agent on the first day of free agency in Kentavious Caldwell-Pope?
Jamahl Mosley: I think a big portion of that goes into what we’re creating and what we’ve built. Jeff Weltman, Alex Martins, and the DeVos family. What we’ve built, and the way in which we are approaching each season. The atmosphere and the environment that these guys feel every single day. The way in which we showed up on the court. Other guys see that, and they recognize the culture that’s being built here.
What does KCP bring to the Magic?
JM: His résumé speaks for itself in so many ways with two championships. He’s a guy that wants to sit down and guard first. He can knock down open shots. He’s selfless and understands the sacrifice and the little things that he needs to do and what teams need to do in order to win big in this league. He brings that through experience, his voice, and leadership with these guys.
What did the Franz Wagner extension mean for him and show about the organization’s commitment to him?
JM: We’ve said from day one when he was one of our first drafts – he and Jalen Suggs. We talk about growing this organically through the draft and being able to grow and get guys better. It shows the belief of each guy getting better as soon as they step into the gym. It’s what our coaching staff has done with those guys and what our front office has believed in. It says so much that we believe in these young guys getting better because that’s what it’s about.
What’s the next step in Franz Wagner‘s development?
JM: Continuing to believe in who he is. He’s shown his body of work and is continuing to improve there. You talk about his basketball IQ, his toughness, and stepping it up defensively. Those are the same areas we want to continue to have him grow in. He’s willing to take on that challenge because he’s a tireless worker who’s about winning and the team.
What are your thoughts on a potential extension for Jalen Suggs?
JM: That’s for our front office to deal with and to communicate. Both sides will continue to talk. Our job is to continue to get Jalen better on the court and make strides.
What do you work on over the summer as a coach to improve?
JM: Finding different ways to help lead these guys to put them in the best position possible. The Xs and Os of the game are always going to be something you talk about when we are in these meetings with coaches. But the ability to keep connecting with these guys at a high level and not just with the players but our staff as well, so everybody understands exactly the mission we are on and the mission we have moving forward.
How does last year‘s playoff appearance change how people around the league view this team?
JM: You’re no longer going to sneak up on anyone. You embrace the expectations of people, knowing you’re going to be better and that you have the experience of not just the regular season but also the playoffs. You embrace the expectations. You embrace what’s coming. But you know you have to tighten up everything a little bit more. You’ve got to be able to dive into the details. You’ve got to focus on the little things in the game, which is what the game of basketball is. You continue to work hard. Continue to focus on the details and push each other.
What should Magic fans be looking forward to this upcoming season?
JM: I think it’s going to be an exciting season for us. We said when we first started with the draft that we’ve got a special group that’s continued to grow. It’s a great time to be an Orlando Magic fan.
