If Pwill opts in to year 5, this will have been a horrible deal.

Maybe Bulls were worried he would get a higher offer and decided to just sign him now.

Nonetheless the expected happened earlier rather than later. Based on his play he definitely got overpaid but he’s had flashes and has a ton of potential. Front office obviously still believes in him. That dude better earn that contract.

Definitely this. If anything it tells me Bulls is already one foot out the door going toward rebuilding and they want to secure their valued young assets first.

if he wasn't a starter based solely on his draft position, this would rightfully look idiotic

artie's only rational justification for going the direction he did a few years ago was the hope that pat williams would be a star. now he's banking on pat williams again. not exactly inspiring

$18M is not that much in the raising cap. However I personally have already lost my hope on Pat becoming anything resembling a corner stone. I think that change of scenery would have been better for Pat too.

Needs to be taking more then 3 threes a game,

5/8ths of his shots came inside the arc

which is only 3 a game :dontknow:

let's see him shoot 39-40% as a 2nd or 3rd option instead of a 4th option

I'm not a big fan of him but this seems just about right. I feel like he could have gotten more AAV if he'd been on the open market.

Just under 20M AAV. I don't believe getting Pat to sign at anything lower than this was ever realistic.

Not a Pwill believer anymore as he has way too much in snellian tendencies to his game to date. But 90m ain't what it used to be in the NBA. Ole scottie barnes (significantly better but also former fsu 4th overall pick big wing) got literally 3 times as much with his 270M extension. There is upside potential with this player/contract for those who are able to imagine positive outcomes for this hapless franchise.

Well I'm assuming AK isn't a total moron and realizes that his 2025 draft pick is the best shot of saving his job and turning the franchise around.

That's a huge assumption to make... no offence.

You're much more optimistic than me, that's for sure.

Probably a fair analysis. I just don't know how you could be an NBA GM and *not* realize the 2025 draft is a big deal.

Like the price. Like the years. Now if they can get Billy to play him at the 3 we'll be cooking with hot grease.

Last year of deal he will earn less then the MLE. Forecast is 18.4m!

So how much money is left for DDR.

I’d be shocked if we resigned him but I’m thinking we have 22M under the tax right?

If we let him walk we have the 13M MLE?

With buz 5.2m think it’s 19.7m (on fanspo)

They have tendered QO to sanogo it seems. 1.8m?

So 18m now roughly

greenwing wrote:$18 mil per year for a 10 ppg power forward. Only way I see this being a good deal is if one of Lavine and DeRozan are gone since Pat will then absorb their touches and have a chance to break out. But even in that scenario, if he doesn’t break out then this is a huge overpay. This is a high risk move with potentially high upside. At least it’s not the number he was demanding last offseason, though.

DeRozan is gone for sure.

DeRozan is gone. There is nothing for him. He is an impediment to Williams development.

We need to move on from DeRozan for him to be more than a 4th option.

I'm fine with that deal, not a immovable contract at all.

We have both said it for two years.

I just can’t believe it until it happens. He has held back everything since Lonzo went down.
