This was surprising that they reached a deal before FA. I thought for sure Patrick would have to get another deal and Bulls would match.

Maybe Bulls were worried he would get a higher offer and decided to just sign him now.

Nonetheless the expected happened earlier rather than later. Based on his play he definitely got overpaid but he’s had flashes and has a ton of potential. Front office obviously still believes in him.That dude better earn that contract.

$18M is not that much in the raising cap. However I personally have already lost my hope on Pat becoming anything resembling a corner stone. I think that change of scenery would have been better for Pat too.

I'm not a big fan of him but this seems just about right. I feel like he could have gotten more AAV if he'd been on the open market.

Just under 20M AAV. I don't believe getting Pat to sign at anything lower than this was ever realistic.

Not a Pwill believer anymore as he has way too much in snellian tendencies to his game to date. But 90m ain't what it used to be in the NBA. Ole scottie barnes (significantly better but also former fsu 4th overall pick big wing) got literally 3 times as much with his 270M extension. There is upside potential with this player/contract for those who are able to imagine positive outcomes for this hapless franchise.

$18 mil per year for a 10 ppg power forward. Only way I see this being a good deal is if one of Lavine and DeRozan are gone since Pat will then absorb their touches and have a chance to break out. But even in that scenario, if he doesn’t break out then this is a huge overpay. This is a high risk move with potentially high upside. At least it’s not the number he was demanding last offseason, though.

I just can’t believe it until it happens. He has held back everything since Lonzo went down.
