I'm not sure I can make you feel better considering we just saw how the Spurs and the Pels addressed their respective PG problems by giving up way less what we'd want for Darius Garland. Maybe the Spurs aren't done, but because of how our season ended - teams are just trying to rip us off. Jarrett Allen would look nice on the Pelicans, but they want to move Ingram and Ingram wants a max which is problematic for us. Not to mention, the hole moving Allen would create in our front court.
So, unless Koby can find just the right deal our best bet may be to let Atkinson show what he can do with the roster. It's a big ask, but if Garland simply manages to stay healthy his value will shoot up. Atkinson playing a deeper bench should help.
JBB has managed something really profound in his tenure, somehow he's won a lot of games, built a pretty decent offense and defense, and yet nobody values the players who've helped make that happen.
Even when people talk about Mitchell, they're like he's a fine scorer, but he's going to burn out soon, and he's too ball dominant, too small, can't win with him, blah blah. Meanwhile Don recorded his 3rd playoff 50+ pt game playing on a bum knee which just so happens to be 3rd all time. When only Jordan and Wilt are ahead of you in a playoff scoring statistic ... that's pretty special.
