Okay, that makes sense. Too bad for MIN.
So a second round swap. In 2031 or when?
No swap. We couldn’t trade.
So there was no trade? What a SNAFU.

I think you got that backwards where the MLE can be used to trade for players now or claim them off waivers.
TPE's can be used for sign and trades.
Pretty sure you can't just outright sign a player with a TPE.
Yup backwards. Plus the new rules have me scratching my head.
You have me confused now. Can we or can we not sign a free agent with a TPE?

No swap. We couldn’t trade.
No I think there's still a pick swap, it just couldn't create a trade exception.

Second Apron Rule: “not allowed to sign-and-trade your own free agent if the incoming amount puts you over the second apron.”
We are already over the second apron, so we have nothing to trade, right?

And we also got a box of chocolate

But if there is no incoming amount...

I’m confused. I shouldn’t be going by abbreviated tweets. In general, CBA restrictions are in place where you end up after the deal is done. But I haven’t seen this happen before under this specific rule.
I’m not following GSW. Are they signing SloMo with cap space here or some kind of exception?

Apparently they're signing him into a TPE created in the Klay Thompson trade. We get a 2nd round pick swap on our end. So it has no bearing on our bottom line.

This is where I'm at too. Every indication is that it is still a sign-and-trade. No deleted tweets or clarifications about that wording yet.

So GSW is paying us to sign-and-trade him because they couldn’t have acquired him with a TPE in any other way? Ok.

A sign-and-trade have to be for a minimum of 3 seasons, but with only the first year guaranteed.
No trade exception for Minnesota created because it was a sign-and-trade (brain fatigue, sorry).
Teams over the second are allowed to use a new trade exception created but can’t do it via a sign-and-trade.

I'm so confused by that last sentence. So can we use that trade exception in some other perhaps limited way?
Maybe going after a 3rd string PG?
