The Pelicans and Memphis are desperate for Centers.

Both the pelicans and grizzlies just drafted centers. Why would they do that and then go and try to deal with Ainge?

There isn’t really a market for center, especially ones who could be backups. Everyone drafted centers or resigned their own. Honestly Ainge could sit on Kessler, but there are a lot of rumors that he is making a stink because he doesn’t want to be there either.

Also, just to take a step back. Kessler is far from the end all for what the Knicks need. They will likely find a backup center somewhere else. Mitch is the starter, so the Knicks are not negotiating desperately. Ainge likes to create a trade market and play people against each other.

Edey and Missi have a lot of bust potential. They have competitive teams and they should not rely on a rookie center to contend. A vet center should be their target. But I don't know if they have salary fillers and apron space to get one.

We couldn’t generate enough salaries to send out without sending out one of the Villanova boys, Mitch, Randle, or OG. Also the Bucks is a 2nd apron team which would make it even more difficult.

That sucks because Lopez is the ideal stretch 5 that we want that can also protect the rim. Way better fit than Kessler and Richards

Lopez is old and kind of washed. He is not worth so much.

old but still a major upgrade over mitch

Damn, Knicks messed up and didn't think things through according to the Nets podcast. We are forced to give up McBride for nothing

In the case of Edey and the Grizzlies they have Jaren Jackson. They were looking for some more size and outside shooting to open the lane for Ja to attack

In the case of the Pelicans… maybe but it doesn’t quite make sense. Missi is basically another version of Kessler. Lopez would be great for them but the math isn’t matching and the bucks are in the 2nd apron so it has to match.

Unless CAA force Ainge’s hand, he won’t easily trade Kessler here. And it would most likely be Deuce plus at least the WAS protected 1st (or Dadiet)…

Trade Pacome Dadiet for Kessler, plus the picks. Before Dadiet proves to be worthless

Don't think we can trade both picks because we don't have a 2026 1st.

Toss a couple of second rounders in there and see if they bite.

But that's about all we can offer besides McBride at this point.

Not how that works.
Those picks are not guaranteed so they would not be used to satisfy that rule.

True but hopefully the market is tight for a backup center...

6 months out or something right?

Edit: A draftee who signs his first NBA contract is ineligible to be traded for 30 days.

Read on Twitter

Just trying to follow the tea leaves here. If they are really invested in him as the backup to brunson where are those minutes coming if they still have Duece for the next 2-3 years?

Begley also in his report tonight said the next set of business is backup big. He did mention Precious but he also made an interesting note...Knicks FO is prioritizing this position because they do expect there backup to potentially start 30 or so games this year with Mitch's injury history.

That just doesn't sound like bring back Precious and pray for health if you ask me.
