The Pelicans and Memphis are desperate for Centers.
Both the pelicans and grizzlies just drafted centers. Why would they do that and then go and try to deal with Ainge?
There isn’t really a market for center, especially ones who could be backups. Everyone drafted centers or resigned their own. Honestly Ainge could sit on Kessler, but there are a lot of rumors that he is making a stink because he doesn’t want to be there either.
Also, just to take a step back. Kessler is far from the end all for what the Knicks need. They will likely find a backup center somewhere else. Mitch is the starter, so the Knicks are not negotiating desperately. Ainge likes to create a trade market and play people against each other.
Edey and Missi have a lot of bust potential. They have competitive teams and they should not rely on a rookie center to contend. A vet center should be their target. But I don't know if they have salary fillers and apron space to get one.
