I'm curious what those hoops where.

I was thinking the same thing.

Nothing like mentioning that to open the presser and then say: “But we won’t be talking about that.”

And none of the “journalists” bothered to even ask :nonono:

I almost want to see Monty's presser and compare them.

For what it was (just a press conferance), they knocked it outa the park.

I talk a LOT about culture and effective leadership, and this was pretty close to textbook. Forget all the bball & Piston specific stuff, just the approach and mindfulness in establishing an identity is on point. The deliberateness in positive engagement & positive energy is encouraging.

This is where we needed to be as a starting point.

Tom Gores owes me.

(I'm actually re-watching today's presser, but will check that one out. Thanks)

Both were kinda similar.. Good people. Potential.

Monty and the blessings, Pastor Bill, saying how Troy called him back to say "I'd stack this locker room against any other" (personality?) but it's a lot of nothing-talk.

That's great news.

Just listening now and only 10 minutes in, really enjoyed the presser which is just a complete 180 from the Monty press conference when he just seemed so disinterested and was talking about all the money he got lol.
Bickerstaff seems like a smart guy going into detail about strategies and stuff, seems passionate too so....really good first impression.

This is 100% spot on. Between Weaver/Monty, all the energy got sucked out of the room.

JB has fire, and passion. What I can't wait for is to have a coach who will actually challenge a call, amd maybe pick up a tech for his players.

Monty just didn't give a damn.

Agreed, the energy is way different with these guys.

Not saying this is Holmes/Campbell Part Two but it's similar to how I felt about their first presser after the misery of Quinn/Patricia.

I do think it feels like Tom Gores really wants to wash his hands of having to deal with anything Pistons related moving forward. You see Detroit Lions ownership at every game, in the draft room calling every player congratulating them on being a Detroit Lion.... Feeling like you are working for someone who cares does help motivate you as an employee of the organization.

I thought Gores not talking at the presser was maybe the best part of the whole thing.

I like it. Just stay out of it and sign the checks. Once this team starts winning a few games he can come back and pull out the t-shirt cannon.

I once worked for an organization where my bosses, bosses, boss would check on me. Then even after leaving he'd reach out once or twice a year, always trying to recruit me.

It seemed almost odd, but I've never been happier in a job than I was when I had these 3 guys layered above me. At the regional, territory and vp level the human factor and emotional intelligence displayed was staggering and it had an impact on me.

I dunno how involved Gores will be, but TL sounds like somebody I would want to work for. JB sounds like somebody I'd want to work for. And if you can get 12 guys to all feel that same way...

Theres different ways to be an owner. Some are hands on. Some hands off. Either is ok. The one consistent is putting the right people in the right spots. Hopefully that has been done here. Hire them and let them do their jobs. Maybe gore’s finally feels like he can sit back and trust them.

I'm just glad Gores didn't care about his ego or wallet when eating Monty's contract in order to get JB

This press conference felt like the "fever finally breaking" and the relief that comes with being able to move forward in a positive direction

The name "Dave Bing" reminds me how Monty said "I want to be associated with Detroit like Dave Bing who is from DC"

JB seems enthusiastic. I'll probably watch it again (was reading the livestream simultaneously, which is impossible)

Gores knows Trajan will be on time. Now, he gets to snort his coke and not show up in detroit. This was his plan from the get go

JB did a podcast and talked a bit more about some specific players. Interesting listen.
