So Tatum has more playoff points than Kobe, but Kobe has 5 championship to Tatum's 1 and this is supposed to look good for Tatum?

Wembanyama should be an MVP candidate this season and end it as a top 3-5 player. Can't say the same for Tatum.

For OKC I'd want Wemby, because Chet and Wemby on the same team would be awesome to watch. I'd take Tatum though. He'd be the perfect second guy to SGA, and he fills in the PF slot perfectly also.

Wemby is allready the most impactfull defensive player of the world.
And i bet that his offensive stat will look similar to tatum this season.
The big question mark is the efficiency, and it's why i'm not 100% sure of my answer.

But considering both offensive AND defensive aspect of the game, right now for me, the correct answer is Wemby

Tatum..

Seems like a complete disregard for winning. It's far easier to stuff the statsheet on a bad team.

Agreed. Tatum may have his warts as a player. But he did just win the championship as the 1a or 1b on his team. And for me that matters. Some people are just looking at physical attributes and stats. I don't care too much about stats. Any player in the NBA could put up big numbers on a bad team. Not impressive to me.

So while I do think Wemby will eventually lead his team to wins personally I'm not going to rank him ahead of a guy like Tatum until his does. Saying he is on a bad team is too much of a cop out. Where do you draw the line? Where do you rank other good players on bad teams? There were guys on bad teams this year that had better years than Wemby. Obviously if Wemby year wasn't close to Tatum. Now if you are talking about potential maybe you could make the case. But you could make the case for other players as well. It's funny people talk about Anthony Edwards hype but imo Wemby has gotten more hype without so far playing anywhere near as well.

Again I do think Wemby can be great. But people need to seriously slow down here. And let Wemby earn it on the court like everybody else. NBA isn't just about physical attributes and potential. It's about production and results. And so far Wemby is behind a TON of guys in both departments.

But I get maybe because Nike is going through such a terrible time as a company maybe they are looking for the next big thing hoping that he will be the catalyst to turn around a slumping company. So maybe that's why there is so much Wemby hype. Because I've never seen a guy without any results and with Wemby production pushed as hard as some people are trying to push him.

Bottom line...for me production and results still matter over physical attributes and potential. So I'm obviously taking Tatum over Wemby until shows otherwise. Wemby is 7'4 and just shot 46% from the field. Not great. Also averaging 21 ppg in todays NBA when you don't have a bunch of other scorers on your team isn't great either.

Also as someone else has said we don't know how Wemby would mesh playing with a bunch of other good players because he hasn't been in the situation yet. Nor do we know how he would handling being the favorites in the playoffs or having pressure to produce in the playoffs because again he hasn't been in that situation yet.

It's possible Wembanyama could be better than Tatum next season. I wouldn't rule it out. But it's by no means a given like some are saying. One thing is for certain. Wemby will have to be a LOT better next season than he was this season for it to even be a debate.

Wemby in an about 3.5 landslides win. Not even remotely close.

The case for Wemby is pretty simple. Replace Tatum with Wemby and the Celtics still win the title.

Ah yes the great Wemby that joined a tanking 22 win team & took them to a whopping 22 wins ..

It looks like most of you don’t understand what winning basketball is. You’re trying to convince me that apparently a top 10 player in the league can’t win more games than when they were tanking the year prior ? Starts to make you sound stupid when you’re convinced he could’ve been a #1 on a championship team hey ..

“You know what? He does. I was watching some old tape of the 1978 Celtics, but I was just like, I don’t know man. So I watched the scrimmages instead, and I was like, really? Is this what we’re doing? Tatum is just going to keep growing and have no holes in his game? This is what is happening to humans now? What are we even doing?”

“Yeah. Kyle, turn the Tik Tok camera on. I think Tatum might be best centre since Kareem. He is. He just is.”

• Victor made 128 shots from downtown of 394 attempts (.325) his rookie season
• Victor had 274 assists and 260 turnovers (1.1) his rookie season

A lot of teams would be have to take that into account if they're seriously considering him over Tatum for '24-25.

The results are in but you don’t like the results. Shocking.

Not a serious thread. I mean who in his right mind would pick Tatum over Wembanyama :eek2: But then I saw that 40 fans have voted for Tatum  Hopefully all of them are trolling and not insane.
