I doubt I'm alone. Do no harm is my outlook, and being someone who was a victim of gun violence, I don't condone someone shooting the prick, but people reap what they sow. This is exactly the environment that Republicans and their base have been pushing for with their extremist talk and derailment of every sensible piece of gun legislation since GW let the Assault weapons ban expire. Good job yall.
You talk crazy, calling for Latinos to be deported, nationwide abortion bans, stripping civil rights protection and all that other fascist Project 2025 sh*t and guess what? You open up the door for extremists, regardless of political affiliation to come out the woodwork. This isn't new. We aren't far removed from when political killings were happening in this country
I don't feel sorry for him, this is what happens when you embrace extremism and stoke hatred. You had some dude from the Heritage Foundation making a speech about a bloodless coup like last week. Jan. 6th. What did anyone think was going to happen? There are guns and mentally ill people everywhere in this country.
You think Republicans would've learned when Steve Scalise got gunned down by some nutter with an SKS...this is a two way street.
I love this country but this isn't sustainable.
England just reversed 15 years of Toryism and France shocked everyone after Macron's ill-advised snap elections when the center and the left united to turn back the LePen faction.
You're correct. It is not sustainable, which is why we've got to grit it out for this election. I don't know how a 20 year old American can see what is happening and not be scared to death for their futures. And the GOP is not working to leave behind a world for them. There are right wing kids, but less, so my hope is we can survive this like the UK did and turn the corner.
And as far as the shooting today goes, it will turn off as many people towards guns as it will embolden the nutters. It's just another instance of guns turning our social spaces into fear zones and many people are fed up over that. Thanks to Scotus for returning bump stocks to the mix so we can have more Vegas style massacres.
Yeah this is not good for multiple reasons.
I'll be interested to see the mental gymnastics being used this week by Republicans when a Democrat in Congress calls for strict gun control measures.
Stay frosty everyone.
This is the period before a national election when predictions get brushed off and the real metrics start to show up the closer you get to the election.
While WAPO, the NY Times and TV networks soiled themselves trying to get Biden to step down, he showed up in public every day while Trump disappeared until this weekend. All of the predictions that Trump would now crush Biden dissipated as new polls keep adding points to Biden who is now polling back in the lead.
So, yes, stay frosty, because when you threaten to tear apart Latino families with millions of deportations because their father did a border crossing 30 years ago and then assimilated and became a taxpayer and raised American born kids, you'll lose those people who would have otherwise voted Republican because they're Catholics swayed by illusions of religious values.
There's plenty of examples like this crossing many issues of millions of people who know they will be directly hurt by a Trump presidency. Many of them will zip their lips about their true intentions since they will be in communities with mixed politics and vote against him.
