I expect we're done this off-season minus maybe swapping Galloway for a developmental big on a 2-way. And I'm perfectly fine with that. Great signing for the veteran min. Very happy with what we've done with limited flexibility.

Fine. Not much Horst could do. He's an upgrade on Beasley but I don't think much of one.

If the big three aren't healthy in May it doesn't matter anyway.

Quite enjoying that you're desperate to have an argument seemingly because I'm not sufficiently excited about this signing for your liking. You're being a weirdo, dude.

No im trying to ask you who the Bucks should have signed instead of GTJ thats an "actual defender", thats your complaint. that you would have liked a "actual" defender, my question is who? This is realGM lets have actual discusions about ACTUAL options the Bucks could have gone with instead.

you wont give me a name because the reality of the situation is there ISNT one

theoretically we could have gone back to bev. there is that. id listen to arguments if guys wanted to convince me we needed a defensive instigator more than another offense first guy. hell ive argued that myself but it was more against targets like beasley.

but gtj has too much upside here. as big a bev whore as i am..... im not regretting this move. we have the pieces to bring a guy like that around later. we scored 3 great options and didnt move a single guy we liked out

Weird to think that Gary Trent Jr is only 6 months older than AJ Green.

Anyway, without judgment, it seems like NBA players may have a much higher opinion of our core than the average poster here does. With judgment, I agree with them.

Has it been reported anywhere that it’s for sure a minimum deal?

Patbev wasn't an option, 1) because its clear he wanted to cash out one last payday. 2) because he wasn't really that well liked..

My first thought was it's crazy Klay Thompson got $50 million (not sure on the guarantee) while Trent Jr had to settle for a vet min. He's not the perfect player but he's still talented and in his prime. Hopefully he comes in motivated and adds some juice to the team.

People are giving credit to Horst for his and I have no idea why? Feel like it's all Dame and Doc (per the espn article) and wanting to play with our big 3.

Idk if GTJ hits it’d make it easier for us to withstand a Khris and maybe even a Dame injury.

Bucks did make it past the ECF with Giannis hurt but of course it was Atlanta.

Looking ahead and after consulting with GAD, apparently if things go well we have flexibility to re-sign him to a long term deal next year so long as we get under the second apron.

Would love to do some sort of 2 for 1 where we send Pat + one of the young ins for less salary back. Might not be enough given the price to clear cash these days

so basically the same two reasons we let pj tucker move on.

losing tucker is why i wanted bev back honestly. i like to learn from my lessons. we were a different team both times when those guys arrived.

i do understand our hands were tied here unlike with tucker who we simply didnt prioritize properly at the time

There's reason for optimism but we don't need to go to Mars here. The truth lies somewhere between the "fire Horst/this team's cooked" crowd and the "we're now a 60 win team and as good as the Celtics" crowd.

Most pundits and players have us at 4th in the East unless something has changed...

Wait how does that happen?

Bobby was persuaded to take a lot less on a couple contracts to stay here long term.

I want to believe!

But if we can’t even offer the non-taxpayer MLE that seems like a lot to hope for…or please tell me what I’m missing?

I definitely think we're 2nd in the East personally.

Putting us behind Philly is straight up lunacy.

We were #1 in the east/#2 overall last season. The teams who got the furthest were #3 overall (Celtics), #17 (Mavs), #15 (Wolves).

Teams who tend to get overrated are ones who made new big moves or were the reigning champs due in part to circumstance.

Ones who are underrated are those looking to improve w/in or build continuity after they made big moves the prior yr. Health is another unpredictable variable.

We were outstanding w/ our top 3/5 available & against the top 10. That's before continuity was built. W/ more margin for error due to the depth, you have to like the Bucks' chances to go far if they were finally relatively healthy.

The absolute most we can pay GTjr next off-season is tpmle. Thats less than what he turned down. Hes a one and done.

Cool minimum deal. The revolving door of SGs continues. This one is slightly better than the last one.
