Well, Wheeler's first out the door. But I've heard a lot of criticism about MItchell too, mostly about her size, defense, and not passing. The people wanting to cut Mitchell are looking at the finer details of crafting a championship team, I think. I like her, she's a firecracker.
I think as a fan of the team the criticism of Mitchell is far overblown. Does she get tunnel vision sometimes (or frequently), sure. She's a scorer first and second. But she's efficient and she has proven to be very much a clutch player. I see her putting in effort on defense, but obviously she could have better positioning and her size does put her at a disadvantage. In my opinion though, the positives outweight the negatives by a pretty good margin. The only way I would get rid of Mitchell is if you could get someone who can bring the same type things with better size and better defense, like an Allisha Gray or Ariel Atkins type player which is probably not going to happen in the 2025 Free agent pool.
Wheeler on the other hand, seems like a very good teammate and a nice person in general, but every time she runs the point, the offense comes to a grinding halt. The coach seems to think Wheeler at PG and Caitlin at SG has some kind of positive effect, but most anyone with eyes can see it is a horrible combination. I'm hoping they give Grace Berger another opportunity.
