Your bias is showing.
Who else is giving Randle that contract?
Got look at the trade proposals on twitter? Reasonable minds saying they wouldn't consider trading Cam Johnson or PJ Washington for Randle.
I don't hate the guy - but the rest of the league looks at him as a square peg in a round hole.

Begley plays both sides and I've never thought of him as a breaking news source for Knicks stuff, but that's totally unnecessary from NYKMentality lol

Explain how Brunson’s first contract was a pay cut when it was universally considered an overpay

Ma bad I meant to say Brunson’s new contract

And what team or teams are signing him for the max?

First 'if': If Randle signs his extension this summer, I don't know what it would have to be to make everyone happy including Randle, the Knicks and the Wolves but it seems MIN doesn't want to trade for a guy in his last year of contract potentially losing him for nothing after trading KAT for him.

Second 'if': If MIN will do the trade without getting the pick haul they probably want to trade KAT. There would have to be enough talent and cap relief to make it worth doing the deal while staying title contenders but the Knicks sure don't have that draft capital they'd want anymore.

If those two big 'if's happen, then I think a trade will happen, if either of those aren't happening, the deal isn't happening.

I still don't know 'if' I'd like it.

On a different note, wouldn’t KAT totally change our (defensive) identity? I get we will score more. And now we are risking more OG injuries as he will play the 4.

Super risky imo. Way safer imo to play out the coming season and see what we got, then make moves.

I mean it all depends on what else we put around guys?
KAT at the 5 means we can afford Precious at the 4, or Hart at the 4 for spacing. It means we can also, if we have another C, play KAT with that C and gives us flexibility.

Tyus probably sticking with WAS or a team like SAS will give him $5m-$10m. Precious sticking here... Okoro will return to CLE... the rest aren't needle movers.

Knicks still will want to sign Precious to a larger contract just for salary matching purproses. It does us no good to sign him for cheap.

Getting Precious + using some of the TPMLE at the deadline could be used to aggregate a better player.

Maybe we see Precious at $8.5m and then part of the TPMLE is used on Rokas if he's cool with the g-league and spot minutes. You never know... The depth would be... immaculate.

That is a very solid list. Walker would be great.

Is Randle a great defender?

No.

KAT can also play the 5, cause Mitch is another injury waiting to happen.
