We would need more salary added on their end than that to make it work.
I just did the following on fanspo
Randle, McBride, and Sims
for
Sengun, Brooks, and Jeff Green
and the salaries are within 64k of each other. Meaning it would be really close we obviously work out a S&T or small player for the difference.
Sengun would be an amazing get.
The ONLY other guy (besides the polarizing KAT) I can think of that could be available that would be worth it to give up Randle is Sengun.
Apparently he pissed the coach off a ton with his freelancing and they won without him at end of season. Do Knicks think he is a better option than Randle if he doesn't want to play ball in negotiations? It's a good question.
Quite doubtful but fun to speculate because Houston is itching to make a move. Duece and Randle are quite a package of players.
Brooks would give us another Thibs hard nosed tweener defender
It certainly would be a gamble from our FO. Because Sengun is 21...is he ready to be the #2 option on a championship type team?
In terms of being a more modern lineup. You woudl probably go back to starting DD and then role out Brunson/DD/Mikal/OG/Sengun. Which would be some crazy spacing and pretty solid defense.
Your bench would be Cam Payne or Kolak - Josh Hart-Dillon Brooks-Mitch Robinson.
Also if your also looking for a Giannis trade in the future or another superstar. Sengun extension plus Dillon Brooks salary probably gets you close to Giannis or any big time +40 MM salary over a year from now.
Completely speculating though. And have no idea if Sengun trade is even a possibility. As much as I have had trepidations on Randle FO would be taking a huge gamble moving him 2 time all-nba for a 21 year old (yes talented but this team wants to compete for a championship this year.
