Clark might get a 20-20 game as a rookie.

She's coming into her own now. Really nice, I had some doubts as she's not that physically gifted, but like steph she's a supernatural athlete otherwise. She could probably pick up golf and become scratch just like Steph if she wanted.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

Caitlyn Clark with 24pts and 19 assists. (WNBA record)

To me, she is extremely cerebral and has already shown significant improvements in her game from the beginning of the year. While she is far from perfect, I'm not sure "incurably reckless" accurately describes her future.
I hear ya, so let me rephrase. Clark's DNA is to play on the edge. Sabrina Ionescu had 9.1 assists per game as a college senior with 3.0 turnovers, while Clark was 8.9 and 4.7. That doesn't mean that Clark is a worse passer. It means that she plays more on the edge, with that streak of recklessness. Is that a bad thing? Well yes, it is a bad thing when measured strictly statistically, as with those numbers. It's not necessarily for winning games, though, because what doesn't show up in the box score is how much Clark messes up opposing defenses. Her playing style is more disruptive than Sabrina's -- sometimes to her own team, but also to the opposition.
And I don't see that ever changing. Sure as she learns more the TOs will go down. All her numbers will improve, she is a rookie. But she will never be a low-turnover PG, I am willing to bet.

Yep.
Now she just needs a coach

Eh. If the Fever had any forward on its roster who was at least a league-average defender and also a league-average attacker, the team would be winning a lot and the coach criticism would be muted. But the Fever currently is rolling out two forwards who are each like DDR on defense, and Pat on offense.

Sky needs a player like Bueckers in 2025 but they need 1oa. Dallas will undoubtably pick swap. The Sky needs to figure out a way to get that pick swap removed.

Not if the standings stay consistent with what they are now. Swapping picks with Chicago would likely hurt their position rather than helping them. Unless the Sky miss the playoffs and win the lottery.

I don't know, man. Sides is pretty bad.
Some of her lineups are inexplicable, and she takes too long to adjust. The Mystics game was coaching malpractice.
I get Fred Hoiberg vibes watching her.

Re: Chicago Sky/WNBA thread 2024
It's always hard to separate the coach from a weak roster. But I will represent coach Sides right now. Here are the PERs (15 is league average) for her available wings -
Kelsey Mitchell - 15.8
Kristy Wallace - 10.2
Katie Lou Samuelson - 9.5
It goes down from there.
Worse, the one "wing" that the team has who does pretty well is tiny, the size of a point guard, so she can't defend effectively. Thus, when selecting among wings, Sides must pair a poor defender (who plays the guard position next to Clark, another not great defender) with a second wing who can't really do much at all. That's tough.
In contrast, the team has 4 serviceable bigs. So it's kinda the opposite of the Bulls -- enough larger players, but sorely missing wings.

I don't disagree that it's a misfit roster and they're the youngest team in the league, but she still isn't optimizing what she has.
For instance, in the Mystics game, they waited until the 4th quarter to start switching PnR after getting destroyed for three quarters.
In the Lynx game, she tried to slow down the pace after killing it playing SSOL ball with Clark. They upped the tempo in the 4th, and came back from down 8.
I just don't think she's a big-time coach.
We'll see how it plays out.

OK, those are good and valid criticisms.
