Also why was Emmitt the only effective RB during that time? The Cowboys had several RB’s and none were nearly as good as Emmitt. Lincoln Coleman had about a 5-6 game run where he was really good but that’s it. If the OL was as great as everyone says why didn’t they have more success running the ball without Emmitt?
Don’t get me wrong the Dallas 90’s OL was really good but I think their greatness gets overblown by opposing fans when trying to discredit Aikman and Emmitt.
I also don't think we give enough credit to the greatness of Alvin Harper and especially Jay Novacek.
You’re half right. Novacek was great but Harper sucked.
He had that one great catch against the 49ers but he never turned out. He averaged about 20 receptions and 400 yards a season. He went to the bucs and basically sucked. He eventually just washed out.
Actually he had 2 great catches against the Niners, one in Candlestick and the other in Texas Stadium.
