KAT for KD - MIN & PHX
PHX trades: KD
MIN trades: KAT
*
Perfect trade now with KD and Ant bonding, right? Salaries almost Identical.
*Edit: a user told me that bc of 2nd apron salaries need to be identical... I have an idea - MIN adds Minott who goes to CHA for Gordon Hayward TPE, works then

both teams are in 2nd apron so they need to be exactly identical to work. almost is not good enough

Minnesota can't aggregate.

Uff really? So there is no way the swap could be possible (except if one team comes under 2nd apron?)

One of the rare situations where CBA impossibility is less of a hurdle than the trade value imbalance.

Minnesota can't aggregate.
Yeah trades between two second apron teams are effectively impossible. The only way it would work is a 1-for-1 trade where the salaries match exactly, down to the dollar.

So what you're saying is the deal should be Towns for Booker

Neither team can aggregate or take back more money. Can’t be done.
Both teams would have to make a tone of other trades first so they could get well under the 2nd apron.
Jordan Walsh > Lonnie Walker and Charles Bassey

Re: KAT for KD - MIN & PHX
According to our board this trade is possible if KAT waives the trade kicker. That said, I think the Wolves would pass. KAT is our backup C and Naz showed he is not a C anymore throughout last season. We would be creating a roster hole with no player or money, or roster spot (15 is not gonna be used,) and no way to fill it. This trade doesn’t make the Wolves much better (if at all,) as KAT is quite a bit younger and plays better big man defense. Interesting idea, but ultimately DOA.

[EDIT] Aren’t they both at the 35% max? Towns starting his Designated Vet Extension raising him from 30% to 35% and Durant with 35% for his 10-year experience?
MIN has a trade kicker, but a TK can’t raise a player above the max. Ditto for KD’s likely incentives? Sources seem to have KD slightly higher (max?), and then Towns, if he wanted, could only add a small part of his TK to match.
I’m confused by the difference.

KD's contract was for 35% of the cap at the time i believe.

The only way maximum contract guys would have identical salaries is if their contracts (or extensions) started in the same year at the same percentage of the cap.

Sorry, I meant both 35%. KAT 30+5%. I was thinking of Ant 25+5%. I’ll edit.
So is KD’s deal slightly higher because instead of taking the 35% extension, he took his 105% option on previous salary?

I don't think you can go above 35% no matter what.

I think what he's saying is that the deal should Beal for Ant. The goal after all is to pair Ant and KD together on the same team. Beal would have to relinghish about 5 mil of is anual salary to make the trade work, but I'm sure he'd be willing to do that for the greater good.

Re: KAT for KD - MIN & PHX
Before discussing if it works under the CBA maybe we get a justification first as to why the Suns would even entertain this idea?
Other than altruism, why exactly are the Suns trading for a worse player who doesn't address any of the team's needs?

While both sides would be dumb not to do the deal, Beal declines coming to MN. He decides that the great State of Minnesota is too worthy of his talent.

This trade is possible. I was playing around with it yesterday and you have to add another player for both teams to make the salaries the exact match.
So this is a realistic trade. Good idea OP.
