Booooo! It sucks how many artists I like (who are not that much older than me) have been passing away over the last couple of years. MF Doom, Gift of Gab, Trugoy etc. Now Chino XL.
He was never a guy I listened to that much to be honest, but I did cop Here to Save You All when it came out because it had a track with Kool Keith, and I was/am a massive Kool Keith fan.
I just was doing a bit of Googling and saw that Tame One (Artifacts), Hurricane G, Black Rob, Bushwick Bill, Stezo, and Craig Mack have died relatively recently as well, which I don't think I knew about.
I don't recall hearing about Craig Mack, seems he passed back in '18 before it became the in thing.
Black Rob had been found living homeless with liver issues IIRC, not long before he passed. I don't know the full story, but that story is a sad (and cautionary) one.
I was never real familiar with The Artifacts, but I had The Ultimate taped off the radio back in the day, and I saw them live several years back. It's a shame to hear that Tame One has passed since.
Chino's album was the first time I had heard Kool Keith. Never really knew what to make of him, but I like some of his stuff, and you have to respect him just cause he has such a unique style & vibe about him.
