I agree. Unless the new center is a second scorer. However, we can not trust players such as Towns and Ayton. Besides, it would be tough to match their salaries.

I would not rule out something like Randle to HOU, HOU picks to POR, then Smith and Ayton to NYK with expiring contracts thrown in to make it work. We turn Randle into productive players in positions of need while HOU gets more talent so they could climb the rankings and POR rebuilds via the draft as they intend to.

This works on Spotac...

NY: Jabri Smith Jr. + Deandre Ayton

HOU: Julius Randle

POR: Mitchell Robinson + filler

(HOU + POR would also have the option to swap Time Lord and Steven Adams in this deal.)

Towns is the easiest answer to all our problems.

Funny I was just on an Olympic thread on Raptors board talking about how Canada needs a center, naturalized citizen like Embiid for the US. Opened this post and for a second I thought you meant Towns becoming Canadian. :D

I'm not disgreeing with the extension, but I'm not sure quoting any of the Pills boys helps further your case.

Well Scott Perry was the GM when we got Brunson and Thibs. He looked much more competent as a GM under Leon versus when he was with Steve Mills.

"Scott, go get Wayne Ellington and Elfrid Payton." <— Perry looks bad

If Perry was that bad, the Knicks would have still been terrible once Mills left :dontknow:

There was a bromance between Dolan and Mills, so we were screwed as long as Mills was in charge. It's hard to know all the details of Perry's role under Mills. If he were all that great, Leon might have wanted him to remain a part of his leadership team. But definitely, Perry doesn't deserve the disrespect that Mills does.
